Salient Features: IWT Connectivity from Kolkata to NER: 13 Ports of Call (PoC) in each country, all PoCs in India are now Assam: Dhubri, Jogighopa, Pandu, Silghat, Karimganj, custom notified ports Badarpur Rupnarayan river upto Kolaghat (45 km) has been included in the Meghalaya: Dhubri, Jogighopa onwards by road protocol route 1 & 2. Tripura: Direct to Sonamura or Ashuganj onwards by Dhulian – Rajshahi (78 km) (protocol route 5 & 6) has been agreed Road to Agartala to be operationalized and extended up to Aricha (270 km). Daudkandi – Sonamura stretch of 93 km of River Gumti has been included as protocol route no. 9 & 10.
Time taken: Maiden voyages on New Routes: Kolkata to Dhaka (Narayangunj): 6 days ODC movement from Kolaghat Kolkata to Ashuganj: 8 days to Mongla, Bangladesh Kolkata to Pandu (Guwahati): 10 days ODC movement from Kolaghat to Silghat, Assam ODC movement from Kolaghat to Silghat

The Gumti River flows for about 93 km in Bangladesh before it merges with IBP Route 3 & 4 (Meghna River) at Daudkhandi (Bangladesh). It thus provides much shorter connectivity with Ports like Haldia, Kolkata & Narayanganj.
Joint Technical Committee Visit in Mar & May 2019 ~1.2m to 1.5m minimum depth available in the stretch -23 bridges & 68 power lines with VC from 1m - 4.31m and HC from 20m-30m Up to 100 ton vessel can ply from Daudkandi to Sonamura Up to 30 m shall be size of navigation channel
