The campaign resulted in 16 fines and confiscation of 693 counterfeit accessories, including chargers, ear- phones and phone covers. The MEC conducted an unannounced inspec- tion campaign targeting shops that sell mobile phone accessories as part of its assessment strategy to ensure compliance by retail outlets with Law No. 8 of 2008 on con- sumer protection.
