About the Contest

In order to encourage, bring together the students talent, technological advancement and learn the latest trends in the areas of Engineering & Management, the IEEE Student Branch of Poornima University along with its Society Chapters are jointly organizing Three Days National Level Technical Paper and Model Contest “Technology-Innovation” TECHNOVATION- 2018 during 2-4 February, 2018. This contest consists of Oral Presentation of selected papers and demonstration of Models to showcase the original contributions and innovations of Under Graduate Students, Post Graduate Students and Doctoral Research Scholars from various institutions all over the nation. In addition to the student's contribution, few key-note talks in the area of Computing & Information Technology, Electrical, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Mechanical, Civil Engineering & Management shall be arranged to give exposure to students and participants on latest trends.

Technovation-2018 is an effort to bring together students across the nation with distinguished dignitaries to provide the view of the potential of the research works being carried out. It is aimed to create an opportunities for collaboration to conceive and execute new ideas. The paper contest is divided into six parallel tracks. Prizes will be awarded for the best three papers in each technical track.

Objectives of the Contest

 To bring together students of bachelor, master and doctoral degree of various institutions across India  To provide a platform for interaction and discussion on current thrust areas of various disciplines of Engineering & Management.  To create a networking of IEEE members and others across India  To facilitate Poornima students to participate, interact and explore new connect, thrust areas and research works and innovations.  To provide a competitive platform to researchers and innovators among students of various level.

Awards:

Average of two assessments above will be considered for the purpose of awards. Awards will be given in each track for research paper/model as;

 First Prize-- 11000 ------( For Minimum score of 75 out of 100)  Second Prize—7000 ------(For Minimum score of 60 out of 100)  Third Prize-- 5000 ------(For Minimum score of 50 out of 100)

Applicable for Minimum of 30 accepted papers. For less than 30, there would be only one award as applicable.

Applicable for minimum of 20 model entries. For less than 20, only one award will be given as applicable

Welcome Address by Head, ASRC

The function began with a welcome speech by the Dean (R & D) Dr. Mahesh Bundele, Professor & head ASRC, PU. He welcomed - Dr. K. K. S. Bhatia, President, PU, Dr. O. P. Chhangani, Director General, Apex Group of Colleges, Dr. Manu Sikarwar, Project Director, DST Raj, Dr. Manoj Gupta, Pro-President, PU, Dr. B. K. Sharma, Dean SET, PU, Dr. ADD Dwivedi, Branch Counselor, IEEE Student Branch, PU and Mr. Devendra Somwanshi, Ms. Shikha Gautam, Chair, CS Chapter, Mr. Ashish Raj, Chair, PES Chapter, Ms. Mahima Asthana, Chair WIE affinity group, other members of execom, other Deans, Heads of departments, faculty members, student friends and participants on the occasion of the Inaugural session of Technovation-2018: Students Technical Model Contest. He told that Technovation-2018 has been planned for providing a platform for larger mass of students having provision for exhibiting their practical skill in terms of model and also presenting their research writing skill in terms of paper. He said that scope of Technovation includes all core branches of Engineering and the management divided in six parallel tracks for Models as well as papers. In order to motivate the students three prizes worth 7000, 5000 and 3000 rupees are kept in each track subjected to certain qualifying criteria. He also told that some selected papers after peer reviewed are published UGC approved journals. From next edition it is proposed to publish the selected papers in IEEE Explore digital library. He said that total 80 models and 150 research papers were received under six parallel tracks. He also told about the benefits of IEEE membership. He said that IEEE Student Branch of Poornima University is working actively and organizing large number of activities including seminars,

Poornima University, Jaipur TECHNOVATION REPORT workshops and conferences every year. He also thanked Dr. O. P. Chhangani and Dr. Manu Sikarwar on behalf of Poornima University and IEEE Rajasthan Subsection for accepting the invitation for the Inaugural Program of model contest. He expressed his special thanks to management of Poornima University for extending financial support in organizing various activities. Lastly, he thanked to Dr. KKS Bhatia and Dr. Manoj Gupta for their cooperation and support from planning to execution of the activities under the student branch. Dr. Arun Dev Dhar Dwivedi, Professor, Branch Counselor, IEEE student Branch did welcome of to the Chief Guest Dr. O. P. Chhangani, Director General, Apex Group of Colleges, Dr. Manu Sikarwar, Project Director, DST Raj, Dr. Manoj Gupta, Pro-President, PU, Dr. B. K. Sharma, Dean SET, Dr. Mahesh Bundele Dean (R&D) & participants of the Inaugural function of the model contest. He briefly introduced about IEEE Student Branch Poornima University. He said that IEEE Student Branch of the University was approved by IEEE headquarter in June 2016 and started functioning with immediate effect. Subsequently four IEEE students branch society chapters viz; IEEE Computer Society chapter, Robotics & Automation Society chapter, Electron Device Society chapter and Power & Energy Society chapter were approved by the headquarter. At present there are more than 80 IEEE Student Members and more than 15 Professional members under the branch. Also Women In Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group under IEEE students branch has been established. The branch under its banner has organized more than 30 activities since its inception in July 2016. This is third activity of year 2018.

The model contest aimed to showcase the original contributions and innovations of Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctoral students from various institutions across India having 6 parallel tracks (CE, ECE, EE, ME, Civil Engineering and management). He also discussed the objectives of the contest and the criteria for prize distribution. Lastly he expressed his best wishes for success of the technical model contest. Address by Dean (SET)

Dr. B.K. Sharma, Dean(SET) did welcome all the guest & participants of the Inaugural function. He explained the importance of such events and advised students to engage there. He also discussed about the Swachh Bharat Mission its aim & objectives. He discussed about budget 2018 and asked few questions to the participants related to budget 2018. Lastly He expressed gratitude towards organizing committee for planning and conduction of the activities.

The Pro-president Dr. Manoj Gupta congratulated to Prof. Dr. Mahesh Bundele & his team for their successful attempt to establish an IEEE Student Branch at the university. He discussed the concepts of technological innovation system. He said that Technological innovation is often simply an innovation in how we think about technology. He gave some example and ideas of innovation that will change future. He further advised the participants to actively get involved in the program and take the benefit.

Dr Manu Sikarwar, Project director, DST Rajasthan, Guest of Honour delivered a talk on Fellowship Opportunities for Researchers provided by Department of Science & Technology (DST) Rajasthan. He also told that the objective of DST to promote new areas of Science & Technology and to play the role of a nodal department for organizing, coordinating and promoting S&T activities in the country. He said that DST is providing funding in the areas like Scientific & Engineering Research, Technology Development, Women Scientists Programs , Cognitive Science Research Initiative etc. He also told about the scope and objectives of student project programme scheme provided by DST. Lastly he expressed his best wishes for the model contest.

Address by Chief Guest

Dr. O. P. Chhangani, Director General, Apex Group of Colleges delivered the inaugural address. He appreciated Prof. Mahesh Bundele for organizing such events for students. He also discussed about the need of technology and its benefits. He said that Technology has the ability to enhance relationships between teachers and students. When teachers effectively integrate technology into subject areas, teachers grow into roles of adviser, content expert, and coach. Technology helps make teaching and learning more meaningful and fun. He also told about the innovation and its importance to the society. He said that Research has indicated that competition combined with strong demand is a major driver of innovation. Today, we need innovators more than any time before. Every organization and business are feeling the impact of globalization, migration, technological and knowledge revolutions, and climate change issues. Innovation will bring added value and widen the employment base. Innovation is imperative if the quality of life in these trying circumstances is to improve. Innovation will make the

Dr. K.K.S Bhatia welcomed the chief guest Dr. O. P. Chhangani and Guest of Honour Dr. Manu Sikarwar. He motivated the students for participation in such events. He said that innovation is need in this era of constantly changing technology world. Events like model exhibition encourages student to showcase their ideas. He thanks deans of all schools, heads and other campus directors for motivating students for such kind of events. He congratulates Dr. Mahesh Bundele and his organizing team. The function began with a welcome speech by the Dean (R & D) Dr. Mahesh Bundele, Professor & head ASRC, PU. He welcomed Dr. Rajveer Singh Shekhawat, Director School of Computing and Information Technology Manipal University, Dr. K. K. S. Bhatia President PU, Dr. Manoj Gupta Pro- President PU, Dr. B. K. Sharma, Dean SET, Dr. Arun Dev Dhar Dwivedi, IEEE Student Branch Counsellor, Mr. Devndra Somwanshi Student Branch Chair, Ms. Shikha Gautam, Chair, CS Chapter, Mr. Ashish Raj, Chair, PES Chapter, Ms. Mahima Asthana, Chair WIE affinity group, other members of execom, other Deans, Heads of departments, faculty members, student friends and participants. He told that Technovation-2018 has been planned for Paper and Model Contests in Computer, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Management tracks. He presented report that total 80 models have participated. The prizes worth 7000, 5000 and 3000 rupees were kept in each track. He also discussed the criteria for prize award that there should be minimum 20 models in each track to qualify for all the three prizes. The track having less than 20 models shall be eligible for only third prize. In addition for first prize the average score of proposal evaluation and judges’ evaluation need to be minimum 75, for second prize it is 60 and third it is 50.He also told that two judges in each track have evaluated the models. He congratulated all those who have participated including those who received the prizes. He

Lastly he expressed thanks to organizing team of the Contest for their support, dedication, team work and untiring efforts. He enlightened the success of the model contest.

Oral feedbacks and views shared by the participants here revealed that the model contest has successfully fulfilled the objectives of the contest set forth. They praised the organizers who conducted the model contest for their immense experience and valuable inputs as well as their friendly nature.

Chief Guest of the Program Dr. Rajveer Singh Shekhawat, Director School of Computing and Information Technology Manipal University, briefed about the importance of the Technical Model Contest for students. He motivated everyone to actively participate in such type of contest to get benefited. He also talked about the role of technology in innovation. He also discussed that technology can be used to improve teaching and learning and help our students be successful. He wished that the University should conduct many more such programs for students which provide a platform for interaction and discussion on current thrust areas of various disciplines of Engineering & Management. He expressed thanks to Poornima University management for inviting them for the valedictory session of the program.

Chairman of the program Dr. K. K. S Bhatia, President, PU welcomed all guests and the participants in the Valedictory Session of the program. He talked about the importance of technology in education. He also said that today, more than ever, the role of educational technology in teaching is of great importance because of the use of information and communication technologies. He has added that Poornima University IEEE Student Branch is very active and organizing large number of activities under the umbrella of IEEE. He narrated few stories to elaborate importance of organizing such activities and the requirement of connectivity of Universities with Pre-University organizations.

Welcome Address by Head, ASRC

The function began with a welcome speech by the Dean (R & D) Dr. Mahesh Bundele, Professor & head ASRC, PU. He welcomed - Dr. S. M. Seth, Chairman Emeritus, PF, Former Director, NIH, Dr. K. K. S. Bhatia, President, PU, Prof. K. Subramanian, Chair, IEEE Delhi Section , Prof. Murli M. Rao, Chair IEEE CS Chapter Delhi Section, Dr. Manoj Gupta, Pro-President, PU, Dr. B. K. Sharma, Dean SET, PU, Dr. ADD Dwivedi, Branch Counselor, IEEE Student Branch, PU, Mr. Devendra Somwanshi Student Branch Chair, Ms. Shikha Gautam, Chair, CS Chapter, Mr. Ashish Raj, Chair, PES Chapter, Ms. Mahima Asthana, Chair WIE affinity group, other members of execom, other Deans, Heads of departments, faculty members, student friends and participants on the occasion of the Inaugural session of Technovation-2018: Students Technical Paper Contest. He told that Technovation-2018 has been planned for providing a platform for larger mass of students having provision for exhibiting their practical skill in terms of model and also presenting their research writing skill in terms of paper. He said that scope of Technovation includes all core branches of Engineering and the management divided in six parallel tracks for Models as well as papers. In order to motivate the students three prizes worth 7000, 5000 and 3000 rupees are kept in each track subjected to certain qualifying criteria. He also told that some selected papers after peer reviewed are published UGC approved journals. From next edition it is proposed to publish the selected papers in IEEE Explore digital library. He said that total 80 models and 150 research papers were received under six parallel tracks. He also told about the benefits of IEEE Poornima University, Jaipur TECHNOVATION REPORT membership. He said that IEEE Student Branch of Poornima University is working actively and organizing large number of activities including seminars, workshops and conferences every year. He also thanked Dr. S. M. Seth, Prof. K. Subramanian and Prof. Murli M. Rao on behalf of Poornima University and IEEE Rajasthan Subsection for accepting the invitation for the Inaugural Program of Paper contest. He expressed his special thanks to management of Poornima University for extending financial support in organizing various activities. He congratulated to the executive committee of the IEEE student branch and its associated society chapters for organizing this event. He said that IEEE Student Branch of the University was approved by IEEE headquarter in June 2016 and started functioning with immediate effect. Subsequently four IEEE students branch society chapters viz;

IEEE Computer Society chapter, Robotics & Automation Society chapter, Electron Device Society chapter and Power & Energy Society chapter were approved by the headquarter. At present there are more than 80 IEEE Student Members and more than 15 Professional members under the branch. Also Women In Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group under IEEE students branch has been established. The branch under its banner has organized more than 30 activities since its inception in July 2016. This is third activity of year 2018. He also told that in order to encourage and bring together the students talent, technological advancement and learn the latest trends in the areas of Engineering & Management, the IEEE Student Branch of Poornima University along with its Society Chapters has planned to organize a National Level Student Technical Paper and Model Contest “Technology-Innovation” TECHNOVATION- 2018 during 2-3 February, 2018. He said that Technovation 2018 is comprised of two events one Model contest which was inaugurated on 2nd February 2018 and second one as paper contest being inaugurated 3rd February 2018. The paper contest aimed to showcase the original contributions and innovations of Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctoral students from various institutions across India having 6 parallel tracks (CE, ECE, EE, ME, Civil Engineering and management) and papers will be presented in the form of oral presentation. He also discussed the objectives of the contest and the criteria for prize distribution. He expressed his heart felt thank to chief guest and guest of honor for giving their precious time and inaugurating this technical paper contest Lastly he expressed his best wishes for success of the technical paper contest.

The Pro-president Dr. Manoj Gupta did welcome the dignitaries of the Inaugural function of Technovation 2018 –Technical Paper Contest. He told that technology is a key aspect of learning in the schools and technical institutions, whether we like it or not, technology is everywhere; and in order for our students to survive in post-secondary education and the business world, they must know technology. He discussed the importance of technical paper writing and presentation. He said that this type of contest bring together students of bachelor, master and doctoral degree of various institutions across India to discussed and share their knowledge and ideas. He further advised the participants to actively get involved in the program and take the benefit.

Prof. A. Murali M. Rao Chair, IEEE CS, Delhi Section congratulated the IEEE student branch, Poornima for their initiatives. He discussed about IEEE and encouraged students to become member of International professional body –IEEE. He said that technical paper contest offered a unique opportunity to all student community across the nation to share the knowledge of smart technologies on Computing & Information Technology, Electrical, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Mechanical, Civil Engineering & Management. He told student benefits and exposed the student resources available at platform of IEEE. He motivated each of the participants to become an IEEE member. Rao, Chair, IEEE CS, Delhi Section, all the guests and participants. He said that technical paper presentation plays major role in research and also give a good idea to the students on the subject. He told the students to go beyond theoretical knowledge and said that there was nothing impossible to achieve. Most engineering students failed due to lack of communication skills. He also asked the students to update their knowledge about latest techniques. He narrated few stories to elaborate importance of organizing such activities. He appreciated the efforts of IEEE Student branch members for organizing this event.

On this great occasion, Dr. S.M.Seth, Chairman Emeritus, PF, Former Director, NIH ,said that the purpose of education is considered to be that of cultivating the spirit of innovation and creativity among students. Dr. S. M. Seth in his inaugural address related the importance of word “OM” as combination of O E & M three words with many other three key words those plays vital role and has significance in Teaching profession. The set of three words he elaborated are “could- should- must” “Attitude-Skills- Knowledge” “Attitude-Skills-Desire” and “whole-part-whole”. He said that Technical presentations serve engineering, scientific and high tech purposes, describing advances in technology, problem resolution, product design and project status. He also said that technical presentations serve one of two purposes: to inform (knowledge transfer, classroom instruction) or (2) to persuade (convincing others to adopt a design approach or accept the results of an evaluation process).

Vote of Thanks by WIE Chair In the end, Ms. Mahima Asthana, WIE Chair, offered a vote of thanks to Dr. S. M. Seth, Chief Guest Prof. K. Subramanian and Prof. Murli M. Rao, Guest of Honour of the Inaugural program and distinguished speaker for sparing their valuable time and motivating the participants. She expressed deep gratitude towards Dr. K.K.S Bhatia for his motivation. She offered heart-felt gratitude & sincere thanks to Dr. Mahesh Bundele & Dr. Manoj Gupta for their presence and guidance for conduction of the program. She thanked all the participants without whom the program could not have been a success. The function began with a welcome speech by the Dean (R & D) Dr. Mahesh Bundele, Professor & head ASRC, PU. He welcomed Prof. Vijay Janyani (Chief Guest), MNIT, Jaipur, Dr. K. K. S. Bhatia President PU, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, MNIT, Jaipur (Guest of honor), Dr. Manoj Gupta Pro-President PU, Dr. B. K. Sharma, Dean SET, Dr. Arun Dev Dhar Dwivedi, IEEE Student Branch Counsellor, Mr. Devndra Somwanshi Student Branch Chair, Ms. Shikha Gautam, Chair, CS Chapter, Mr. Ashish Raj, Chair, PES Chapter, Ms. Mahima Asthana, Chair WIE affinity group, other members of execom, other Deans, Heads of departments, faculty members, student friends and participants. He told that Technovation- 2018 has been planned for Paper and Model Contests in Computer, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Management tracks. He presented report that total 121 papers were accepted for registration and presentation. Total 83 papers were registered and 63 are presented. The prizes worth 7000, 5000 and 3000 rupees were kept in each track. He also discussed the criteria for prize award that there should be minimum 30 accepted papers in each track to qualify for all the three prizes. The track having less than 30papers shall be eligible for only third prize. In addition for first prize the average score of proposal evaluation and judges’ evaluation need to be minimum 75, for second prize it is 60 and third it is 50.He also told that two judges in each track have evaluated the papers. He congratulated all those who have

He expressed thanks to Prof. Vijay Janyani & Dr. Rajesh Kumar for accepting the invitation to grace the valedictory function. Lastly he expressed thanks to organizing team of the Contest for their support, dedication, team work and untiring efforts.

Oral feedbacks and views shared by the participants here revealed that the technical paper contest has successfully fulfilled the objectives of the contest set forth. He told that Innovation typically begins with a new technical concept or other bright idea. But the idea is just the first step on the long path to successful innovation. He also said that technical change usually requires organizational changes as well. Prof. Vijay Janyani, MNIT, Jaipur discussed the importance and need of technology. He said that Technology refers to the collection of tools that make it easier to use, create, manage and exchange information. In the earlier times, the use of tools by human beings was for the process of discovery and evolution. He also told that technology refers the knowledge and utilization of tools, techniques and systems in order to serve a bigger purpose like solving problems or making life easier and better. He said that in present era our society could not be imagined without new technologies and their role both in this society and in human life in general.

President, Dr. K.K.S Bhatia welcomed Chief Guest Prof. Vijay Janyani, MNIT Jaipur, Guest of Honor Dr. Rajesh Kumar MNIT Jaipur, all the guests and participants. He said that today, technical innovations representing progressive developments are emerging to make use of technology’s competitive advantage. Through convergence of technologies, different fields combine together to produce similar goals. He also told that most important characteristics of our era may be the transformation, transmission and dominion of information. We live in an information society where the leading role has been given to new technologies, especially those devoted to information. He said Technology is building bridges between people on opposite sides of the globe, bringing people from all cultures and backgrounds into contact with each other. .He narrated few stories to elaborate importance of innovation in technology.
