WOW Broadens -Area Footprint

WideOpenWest (WOW!) has extended its Detroit-area service footprint, including access to DOCSIS 3.1 1-Gig broadband, to Farmington, Mich. The launch, part of an “edge-out” strategy at the company, enables WOW! to deliver its mix of voice, video and data services to more than 2,800 additional residential and business customers. WOW! began construction for the Farmington expansion in August, 2017. "WOW! has put a lot of emphasis on our expansion across the state of ," Greg Argetsinger, VP of operations, said in a statement. "With the completion of our Farmington build out, WOW! is now offering our services to over 40,000 new customers across Michigan since the beginning of 2017." Vyve Broadband Launches 200 Mbps Broadband Service In Ottawa, Kan.

Vyve Broadband launched a 200 Mbps Internet service to residential customers in the Ottawa market. The 200 Mbps service, which increases fastest internet speeds by nearly two times, was tested by the local Vyve team recently before the launch. Residents with multiple connected devices such as smartphones, tablets, computers, TVs and gaming systems will be able to run their devices concurrently without interruption. Local businesses will also experience a significant boost in their nternet capabilities, with the addition of a blazing fast 250 Mbps internet service. Vyve investments since the company launched in late 2013 have more than doubled the average speed for existing customers. MCTV Integrates Netfl ix Into Its Fusion Pl atform

Ohio cable operator MCTV has announced the integration of into its Fusion video platform. MCTV Fusion video customers with a Netflix account will be able to view the service on their Fusion set-top. Customers will continue to pay the SVOD provider directly, as is the case with most big-operator integrations of the streaming platform. “More now than ever, people want more and they want it at their fingertips. MobiTV, NCTC Forge Next-Gen Video Deal

Applying a stronger focus on the cable sector, MobiTV has inked an agreement with the National Cooperative (NCTC) that will help the co-op’s membership of indie operators migrate to next-gen, IP-based platform that eschews traditional set-top boxes. The agreement, which focuses on MobiTV Connect, an app-based multiscreen video platform, also represents a fresh approach of sorts for the co-op, which represents more than 800 pay TV providers. Extending well beyond a traditional “hunting license” that gives a vendor the OK to cut deals with NCTC members based on pre-negotiated terms, the new agreement factors in nuances that forge a deeper business relationship between the co-op and MobiTV. Shentel Donates To Rural Retreat Depot Foundation

Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (), local provider of cable, nternet and wireless services, in partnership with CoBank, donated $5,000 to the Rural Retreat Depot Foundation on Dec. 3. The foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity established in 2011 with a mission to acquire, restore and manage the historic Rural Retreat DepotTM in an effort to preserve the culture of the region. Antietam Broadband Commits Technol ogy To Habitat For Humanity

During the next five years, Washington County residents who earn and purchase a new home from Habitat for Humanity will receive one year of high-speed broadband Internet access from Antietam Broadband. "A majority of the families we sell homes to are families with young children. ... It's a lovely way to make sure our families have this opportunity right off the bat," said Joyce A. Heptner, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Washington County. With the school system's increased reliance on and use of the Internet, she said broadband access "definitely has moved from a luxury to a necessity" for families. "We have been longtime financial supporters of (Habitat's) effort, and this seemed like the way to be even more directly supportive of the successful transition of families to homeownership," Brian Lynch, president of Antietam Broadband, said in an email.
