July 11, 2016, Issue 507 Radio To Records: A Year In Almost a year to the day since one of the most dramatic transitions in recent memory (Breaking News 6/29/2015), former iHeartMedia executive Clay Hunnicutt has a top 10 record on the chart as President of Big Loud Records. Country Aircheck asked him what the last year has taught him about the record industry ... and radio. What has surprised you about the record business? The intricacies of publishing and the detail that goes into making sure everything is legal, everybody gets paid the way they’re supposed to and the and players get credit. There’s so much back office stuff happening that most people don’t see. A lot goes into making the music, writing the songs, and more, but once it’s done and mastered, what happens to get it out to the masses is pretty amazing. What have you learned about radio?
