The Safety Committee has strived to be as inclusive as possible with regard to various scenarios that might occur on campus and actions that should be taken by faculty, staff and students during those events. The Safety Committee is committed to the creation of a safe and healthy environment for employees, students, and the public. The Safety Committee, with assistance from various members of the Crisis Management Team, is responsible for evaluating, revising, maintaining and implementing the procedures in this manual on a periodic basis. Silverstein 209 Crounse Hall Office Hours: Open door policy (270) 534-3132 (Office) [email protected] CATALOG COURSE A lecture and problem-solving course intended to combine the principles of chemical SUMMARY: engineering with optimization as they apply to the design of chemical processes. Results of each design case studied will be presented by both oral and written reports. Prereq: COM 199, CME 455, CME 550 and engineering standing. TEXT: Required: Plant Design and Economics for Chemical Engineers, 5th Edition, Peters, Timmerhaus, West, McGraw Hill, 2003. Recommended: Using Process Simulators in Chemical Eng, Seeborg, Edgar, & Mellichamp, 2nd Edition SUBCOURSE This workshop is designed to develop the students ability to use commercial process simulators OBJECTIVES: to examine problems of interest in industrial practice. SUBCOURSE At the conclusion of this workshop, you should be able to: EXPECTATIONS: 1) Apply process simulation to problems in chemical engineering design, including use of tear streams, optimization, sensitivity analysis, design specifications, custom code blocks, property estimation, and property regression. COURSE POLICIES: Attendance is expected at all workshops. Bring your calculator to all classes. Homework assignments will be distributed in class. Homework is due within the first five minutes of the scheduled start of the period for which it is assigned. Late homework will receive no credit. Workshops submissions are due as assigned, often before leaving class.
