Namaste,

From ancient times, women have always played a strong role in the evolution, development and spreading the awareness of yoga. Shrimati Sita Devi Yogendra, wife of Founder Shri Yogendraji, was equally dedicated to promoting yoga among the common man and especially to open the doors of the world of yoga to women. Sita Devi, also lovingly known as Mother, states that “in maintaining the day-to-day health of women, there is more in Yoga than meets the eye.”

Leading on the path, Pujya Maa, Smt. Hansaji Jayadeva Yogendra, the Director of The Yoga Institute, has been a proactive torch bearer for women in the global Yoga fraternity. Renowned as the First Lady of Yoga, she is the epitome of householder Yoga and has dedicated her life to spreading the awareness of yoga to women and men across the globe.

This month, we also celebrate Holi, the festival of colours. While all the colours originate from white, all the colours when mixed together, result in black. This reects in our existence too as we all have a bright, peaceful, white side to us and a dark black side in our consciousness as well. Yoga sadhana helps us to diminish the black and boost the white, by aligning our consciousness. Signifying the triumph of good over evil, let us celebrate Holi with the colors of joy, prosperity, happiness, and peace.

Following all mandated safety precautions and protocols, The Yoga Institute is now welcoming all yoga aspirants for on- campus teacher training courses too.

Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy Learning, Women’s Day and Holi!

7 YOGASATTVA YOGA TECHNIQUE OF THE MONTH

Hastapadangushthasana— Hand-Toe Posture 1 in 3 ways

This asana is very direct in its name, suggesting a body formation including the hands, feet and toes. Since these extremities come together, it involves a great amount of stretching to the muscles surrounding the major hip joint. It also affects the waist and helps in exibility and toning of the lateral muscles.

01 Variation

Starting Position 1. Stand with your feet together and hands at the sides. Inhale. 2. Exhaling, kick your right leg in the front as high as possible and grasp the toe with the same hand, keeping the knees straight. In case you cannot hold your toe, bend the knee of your right leg so as to grasp the toe with the right hand and stretch the leg out in front. Try to keep the leg straight but if not possible, you may slightly bend the knees. 3. Stay in the position for six seconds.

Posture Release 4. While inhaling, release the grasp and bring your leg down. 5. Repeat with the left leg.

8 YOGASATTVA YOGA TECHNIQUE OF THE MONTH

02 Variation

Hold the position for six seconds. 4. While inhaling, release your toe and gently bring the leg down. 5. Repeat with the other leg..

I am a Homoeopathic doctor, based in Mumbai, India. I always had an inclination toward Yoga and wanted to learn it from an authentic source. I consider myself very fortunate to have gotten the opportunity to complete the Basic Teachers Training Course from The Yoga Institute. I am extremely happy and satised with the way the course has been designed. It is a very comprehensive course, giving us the true essence of Yoga and making us realise how Yoga is actually a way of life. I am thoroughly impressed with the balanced and inclusive approach of the course; on one hand it offers a deep Yoga philosophy with spiritual knowledge and on the other hand, the practical teachings for becoming a professional and competent Yoga teacher in the material world outside. 27 YOGASATTVA Shri Yogendraji -

1)Behind the supercial knowledge of things with names and forms, there lies within everyone a deep-rooted craving for the knowledge of things unknown.

[Known becomes nite, Unknown remain Innite....Carl Sagan, Cosmos ).

The nature of Self is one such Unknown, and the innermost desire of many to secure during one’s lifetime to know all about one’s Self. This quest-this search for the knowledge of Self is both universal and eternal.

[Only Self remain to be searched....Rest all is in Google !!....Whatsup ]

The struggle to know this “ I “ which is able to stand against the entire burden of this creation, the “ Non-I “ to discriminate one from other, and nally to realise the true nature of “ I “, the Man—the true MAN( Purusa ) within the man has been eternal.

It is fully realised this Self ( Spirit ) is neither this physical body nor psychic mind—both being knowable and transitory. The Self ( Spirit ) is therefore something unknown and unchangeable.

“Focus on the events of your inner world rather than obsessing over the affairs of the external world.”
