MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Greetings Windermere Rotary Family,

It is my pleasure to serve as your 2020-2021 President.

As we welcome May we continue with our Hybrid Tuesday morning meetings. Thanks to George and Spencer, we have things set up to offer the Zoom meeting for those not able to join us in person. Speaking of meeting in person....what a joy it was to see so many of you Monday evening at the Happy Hour/Open House! If I counted right, there were 26 members and guests enjoying the evening! It is always a treat for me to get to visit with your spouses. I was especially pleased to have Mary Ellen Kerber, the president of the Dr. Phillip’s club, join us for the evening. A special thanks to Burntwood Tavern for hosting our event.

We kick off May, no pun intended, with a presentation by Jeff Agoos, Andy’s son. Jeff has a distinguished career as a soccer defender for the United States national team and is currently employed by Major League Soccer. Check out his attached resume.

You should have received an invitation to our annual Edgewood Ranch picnic that is scheduled for Saturday, May 15th from 11:00 – 2:00. Thanks to a grant from Health Central, Judy has been working with Lynn Hotalen to make sure that everything is in order for the ranchers, cottage parents and staffers to have a fun filled event. Due to COVID, we were not able to have this annual service project last year. Put it on your calendar. Things to bring: lawn chair, sunscreen, hat, you and your family. Be sure to RSVP with number of people in your party. Also, there will be water slides, so, for those that dare, bring/wear a swimsuit!!!

We have received the names of the first and second place 4-Way Test essay winners from Thornebrooke and Windermere Elementary. Plaques are currently being made. Due to COVID restrictions related to visiting OCPS campuses this year I will drop off the plaques and cash awards to each campus and the prizes will be awarded by the schools. Each school has expressed their sincere thanks to our Rotary club for continuing this tradition and look forward to next year when we can resume our regular tradition for the awards ceremony.

Yours in Rotary Service Karen
