Reg charity No: 294606 Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary (HH) is a local independent charity that takes in and cares for abandoned, unwanted and often mistreated animals in Bristol & the surrounding areas. Volunteers are crucial to the success and continuation of our work and we are therefore grateful to you for expressing an interest in becoming part of it.

What is HH and what do they do?

Holly Hedge is a sanctuary for abandoned, unwanted and mistreated animals. We take them in and care for them until we are able to find them a new loving forever home, no matter how long this might take. We rehome approximately 700 cats and dogs each year. We home mostly cats and dogs but also occasionally take in other small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs. No animal is put to sleep unless a veterinary surgeon advises it to be in their best interest. Our work is on-going, but with your help, we can continue to offer a loving, safe haven until they are chosen to be someone's much-loved pet.

Staff and volunteers are involved in all aspects of work at the Sanctuary from animal care, to event organisation and fundraising to helping out at our charity shop in Clevedon. HH is a registered charity (RCN: 294606) whose activities are overseen by a board of trustees who are elected annually at our AGM. The board are all volunteers.

We are an independent local charity and receive no funding from the RSPCA, government or National Lottery. We therefore rely heavily on the generosity of individuals, companies and groups to enable us to provide the care and support these animals desperately need. What can volunteers do at HH?

The following are examples of volunteering roles available at Holly Hedge:

Dog Walker

Fundraising and Communications Assistant

Charity Shop Assistant

Ebay Shop Assistant

Animal Care helper
