• The US Open men’s doubles championship on Friday features No. 12 seeds Jean-Julien Rojer of the and Horia Tecau of against No. 11 seeds Feliciano and Marc Lopez (not related) of . This is their third meeting (tied 1-1). Both teams are attempting to capture their first US Open crown and second men’s doubles title. This is the first US Open doubles championship in the Open Era (since 1968) to feature double digit seeded teams.

• Rojer and Tecau rallied from a set down to beat top seeds Kontinen/Peers 16 76 75 in the semi-finals. They only have lost two sets in five matches en route to the final. Their previous Grand Slam title together came at 2015 Wimbledon. They finished as the No. 1 team that year, closing with a season-ending title at the Nitto ATP Finals in . They come in on a nine-match winning and prior to the US Open they captured their 15th career team title at Winston-Salem. During the streak they have won 18 of 20 sets. Rojer is trying to become the first Dutchman to win the US Open since and in 1994. The last Romanian to win the US Open men’s doubles title was Ilie Nastase in 1975 (w/Connors).

• Lopez and Lopez have dropped one set en route to the final, that coming in the semi-finals (36 63 64) against five- time US Open champions Bryan/Bryan. Their previous Grand Slam crown came at Roland Garros last year. They are the third Spanish duo in the past four years to reach the US Open final. Tecau and Vandeweghe advanced to the 2016 final in their first event as a team, while Murray and Hingis did not drop a set in their debut earlier this summer at Wimbledon. In the other semi-final, first-time teams will face off as No. 3 seeds Michael Venus and Hao-Ching Chan meet Oliver Marach and Anastasia Rodionova.
