17 Specification Highlights T-Roc You’ll just want one

Few vehicles exude confidence and character quite like the Volkswagen T-Roc. Volkswagen’s latest compact SUV is a rare find – a vehicle that successfully combines all the attributes of a premium SUV in a package that is versatile, stylish and unmistakably sporty.

It’s the ruggedness and sheer practicality of the T-Roc that sets it apart from other vehicles on the road. Available in two versions – 110TSI Style and 140TSI Sport – the T-Roc has been designed and built to be the perfect city companion. Here is a premium compact hatchback that affords all the benefits of an urban run-around, while possessing the unmistakable confidence and dynamism of an SUV.

The T-Roc is ready to take on a range of everyday driving challenges, with its robust build and onroad prowess putting it at a distinct advantage. Of course, there are other SUV benefits to be enjoyed, such as the T-Roc’s high riding position, which provides a commanding view of the road, and ease of getting in and out of the vehicle.

Meanwhile, 140TSI Sport's combination of effortless sporting performance and the all-wheel drive provides a compelling and reassuring driving experience.

The T-Roc feels at home on every road surface and matches supreme riding comfort with all the pleasures of a versatile and stylish cabin. With its surprisingly generous interior space, outstanding fuel efficiency and a host of infotainment, driver aid and safety technology, the T-Roc is a car to be enjoyed with every single trip. At the same time, its flowing contours and concise proportions make it a genuine head-turner.

The Volkswagen T-Roc is confident to its very core – and has the performance capabilities and looks to back it up. 140TSI Sport model shown with optional Sound & Style and Luxury package IntroductionContents 2 Exterior

The Volkswagen T-Roc combines a svelte coupe-like design with the assertive presence and dynamism of a compact SUV. Its bold on-road stance and striking body lines convey its sporty intent, while its confident character shines through in purposeful design features from front to rear.

SUV styling is immediately apparent in the T-Roc’s distinctively wide front end, which features a prominent black grille and front bumper in body colour, together with distinctive black-textured front lower air intakes. Low-profile-design LED headlights with Light Assist portray a hint of menace and feature a unique LED daytime driving light and indicator 01 signature to truly set the T-Roc apart.

The T-Roc’s sweeping roofline with chrome roof rails give it unmistakable urban attitude, as do appealing 18-inch alloy wheels (19-inch Suzuka alloy wheels optional for the 140TSI Sport).

At the rear, distinctive LED tail lights form a cohesive whole with the T-Roc’s wide tailgate, which features a raked rear windscreen and a centrally placed model name. The 110TSI Style lives up to its name with contrasting black gloss roof and mirrors.

The Volkswagen R Team responsible for developing the R performance models has designed an R-Line sports styling package for the 140TSI Sport version to give it even further appeal. 02 03a

The T-Roc's already strong profile and stance are bolstered by prominent R-Line design highlights such as an R-Line logo on the T-Roc’s radiator grille, R-Line side sill panels and wheel arch extensions, and an R-Line rear bumper with black sports diffuser.

A vehicle this bold and stylish, and packing so many sporty features, is sure to make you the envy of your friends.

The Volkswagen T-Roc is a compact SUV but its spacious interior would have you believe it is a much larger vehicle. Not only is the T-Roc’s cabin surprisingly light and airy, it provides exceptional visibility courtesy of its high riding position – and its layout places a premium on driver and passenger comfort.

A quality feel pervades the T-Roc’s cabin with its use of eye-catching trim highlights, LED ambient lighting and use of decorative inlays. The T-Roc’s leather-covered flat bottomed steering wheel with brushed aluminium inserts, and leather and aluminium finish gearshift knob, are a pleasure to touch and put the driver at the centre of the action.

And you’ll always feel supported by the T-Roc’s comfortable front with height and lumbar adjustment, which will help you arrive fresh even after a long drive.

The T-Roc is the latest in a range of Volkswagen vehicles to prioritise the multimedia 01 experience for driver and passengers. An 8-inch Composition Media system (8-inch Discover Media navigation system in the 140TSI Sport) mounted at the highest point of the dashboard puts a vast array of infotainment options right at your fingertips.

You can take the digital experience to the next level by selecting the T-Roc’s Digital Cockpit (standard in the 140TSI Sport and optional in the 110TSI Style). The Digital Cockpit puts you in charge of a high-resolution digital instrument display that can be customised to show an impressive array of driver assistance, driver aid and navigation functions.

Outstanding interior ergonomics don’t come at the cost of flexibility. The T-Roc offers excellent luggage capacity, which can be expanded further with the T-Roc’s 60:40 split/ folding rear backrest.

With its focus on space, practicality and unadulterated fun, the new Volkswagen T-Roc is the perfect fit for anyone with an active lifestyle. 02

The Volkswagen T-Roc isn’t one to rest on its aesthetic and performance laurels. It packs a mighty punch when it comes to the infotainment and driver aid technology it combines into one package.

Standard in the 140TSI Sport and optional in the 110TSI Style (as part of the Sound & Vision package) is Digital Cockpit, a full-colour, high-resolution 10.25-inch colour display with customisable screens that reveal an array of essential driving information. 01 Together with the T-Roc's 8-inch infotainment system, which features an App-Connect interface for Apply CarPlay and Android Auto, you have everything at your disposal for an informed and entertainment-packed drive.

Like every other Volkswagen, the T-Roc brims with intelligent assistance systems for driving, parking and safety. These features are bundled together under the name IQ. DRIVE. As well as supporting the driver in everyday situations such as lane changing, preventing accidents and increasing everyday comfort, the systems contained within IQ.DRIVE reveal Volkswagen’s ambition to reach its goal of truly autonomous driving. 02 The T-Roc is proof that that goal is just around the corner. Technology such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)*, Front Assist, Pedestrian Monitoring* and Lane Assist* can all help reduce the risk of collisions around town and on the highway. Manoeuvring the T-Roc into tight parking spaces is a cinch with Rear View Camera (RVC)* technology, Park Assist* and Manoeuvre Braking* sensors at front and rear.

The T-Roc also looks out for you if you’re tired at the wheel. Driver Fatigue Detection checks for signs of fatigue and provides a visual and audible signal when it’s time to take a break.

Optional Packages

Take your T-Roc to the next level by choosing from three optional packages designed to maximise driver comfort and enjoyment. For an enriching audio experience, the Sound & Vision package for the 110TSI Style adds the Digital Cockpit, 8-inch Discover media navigation system, wireless App-Connect and an impressive 300W Beats audio system with an 8-channel digital amplifier and subwoofer. 01 The same Beats audio system can be added to the 140TSI Sport when you choose the Sound & Style package, which also incorporates appealing 19-inch Suzuka alloy wheels and Adaptive Chassis Control to allow fine-tuning of the vehicle’s driving characteristics. Select from among Normal, Comfort and Sport damper settings to optimise the vehicle towards comfort or sportoriented driving. No matter whether you choose the 110TSI Style or the 140TSI Sport, you can add a layer of comfort and convenience to every driving experience by selecting the T-Roc’s Luxury package. Vienna leather appointed seat upholstery# with contrasting colour tones puts you in the lap of luxury, while heated front seats help ward off winter chills by keeping you snug and warm. 02 The inclusion of a panoramic glass in the Luxury package means you can let light and warmth penetrate the cabin all year round. It’s hard to beat the feel of the winter sun on your shoulders with the sunroof closed, but the sunroof is just as delightful to use during the warmer months. The sunroof’s electric slide and tilt adjustment means it can be opened with the simple touch of a button, while the integrated wind deflector means you’ll never be buffeted by wind. The sunblind can be drawn to cut down distracting glare on particularly sunny days. Also a feature of the package is an electrically operated tailgate that offers all the convenience of opening or closing the T-Roc’s boot by depressing a button in the 03 electronic key fob or by touching a button embedded in the tailgate. 01 Beats audio system (part of Sound & Vision and Sound & Style packages) 02 19" Suzuka Alloy wheels (part of the Sound & Style package) 03 Panoramic sunroof (part of the Luxury package)

28 Technical Specifications Glossary 4MOTION^ Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) An all-wheel drive system that provides the best possible traction at all road speeds, in all weather and road When braking, wheel speed sensors measure the road wheel speed and should one or more wheels start to lock conditions. An electronically controlled multi-plate clutch directs torque to the axle with the best traction. the ABS system reduces brake pressure to that wheel. This prevents the wheels from locking during heavy or emergency braking, enabling the vehicle to remain steerable. When operating under a relatively low load or when coasting, power is primarily distributed to the front axle, thus saving fuel. However, the rear axle can be variably engaged in fractions of a second whenever necessary, even before any wheel starts to slip and therefore reducing the potential for a loss of traction. Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) The wheels of the T-Roc are prevented from spinning even when driving off and accelerating. ASR is a traction control system that prevents the wheels from spinning under acceleration by reducing engine torque. Activation of the multi-plate clutch is based primarily on the engine torque demanded by the driver. In parallel, a system within the all-wheel drive control unit evaluates such parameters as wheel speeds and Auto Hold function^ steering angle. As soon as the vehicle comes to a complete stop, the ABS hydraulic unit stores the vehicles final braking pressure. So even when you take your foot off the brake pedal, all four wheels brakes remain applied, Adaptive Chassis Control*^ providing increased comfort in stationary traffic. This function is released automatically when you drive off The electrically controlled dampers of adaptive chassis control constantly adjust to the road conditions, again. the driving situation and driver’s requirements. Selected via and integrated within the functionality of the Driving Profile Selection, the driver can choose between three damper settings – Normal, Comfort and Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert Sport. The Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert system supports the driver in assessing and avoiding Starting from the normal setting, the driver can change the basic character of the car towards sporty or dangerous situations, especially in critical situations, e.g. city and heavy traffic. The Blind Spot Monitor more comfort-oriented driving. In each setting, the adaptive chassis control adjusts the damping to the detects cars and motorcycles in the driver’s blind spot and highlights these vehicles via a LED indicator particular driving situation (up to one thousand times per second) which means it offers an optimum level in the door mirror. Rear Traffic Alert warns the driver of approaching traffic at the rear of the car when of driving comfort and enjoyment at all times. Particularly on windy roads and poor surfaces, using adaptive reversing via an audible warning followed by a visual message in the Optical Parking System (OPS). chassis control offers sporty and yet comfortable driving. Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert cannot replace the driver’s attentiveness. The driver is still legally responsible for the vehicle and must monitor the speed and distance in relation to other vehicles. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is an extension of the conventional cruise control system with advanced Brake Assist capabilities based on a radar sensor. When ACC is activated, the vehicle automatically brakes and During emergency braking, Brake Assist aids the driver by increasing the brake pressure automatically to a accelerates to a speed and distance set by the driver. level exceeding the locking limit. The ABS is thus quickly brought into the operating range, which enables If the T-Roc approaches a slower vehicle, the ACC brakes the car to the same speed and maintains the maximum vehicle deceleration to be achieved. pre-selected distance. Even when a vehicle pulls into the same lane in front of you or slows, your vehicle is automatically decelerated to the pre-selected distance. If the vehicle ahead moves out of your lane, the Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG)^ T-Roc then accelerates up to the preset desired speed. DSG is a manual gearbox in which the gearshifts are controlled electronically. What makes the DSG unique is that it has 2 separate gear sets operated by 2 clutches. The benefit of 2 gear sets and 2 clutches is that Deceleration of the vehicle may take place via intervention in the engine management system. If one gear set and clutch is engaged driving the vehicle with the second disengaged clutch having already deceleration via engine torque is not sufficient, brake intervention takes place, braking the vehicle to a pre-selected the next gear awaiting for power to be transferred. As the next gear has already been pre- standstill if the traffic situation necessitates. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) cannot replace the driver’s attentiveness. The driver is still legally responsible for the vehicle and must monitor the speed and distance in relation to other vehicles. The ACC system should not be used on winding roads or in adverse weather conditions such as heavy rain.

Glossary 29 Glossary Driving Profile Selection with 4MOTION Active Control^ Fatigue Detection Driving profile selection provides the driver with a wide-ranging choice of settings that can be made to the The driver Fatigue Detection system automatically analyses the driving characteristics and if they indicate vehicle according to the driver’s preferences. The driver has the option of choosing between the following possible fatigue, recommends that the driver takes a break. The system continually evaluates steering driving profiles: Normal, Sport, Eco, Comfort* and Individual. The Normal profile offers a comfortable wheel movements along with other signals in the vehicle on motorways and others roads at speeds but dynamic driving style. Sport provides faster response of the accelerator pedal, sportier damping and in excess of 60 km/h, and calculates a fatigue estimate. If fatigue is detected, the driver is warned by steering, while the DSG switches to Sport mode. Eco mode has been designed to enhance fuel efficiency by information in the Multi-function Display and an acoustic signal. The warning is repeated after 15 minutes if including coasting function and by adapting engine performance, earlier gearshift points and consumption- the driver has not taken a break. optimised control of the air conditioning system. Comfort* mode offers a more relaxed and comfortable driving experience, primarily through the softer suspension setting of the (optional) adaptive chassis Fatigue Detection cannot replace the driver’s attentiveness. The driver is still legally responsible for the vehicle and therefore determining whether or not they are fit to drive. At the same time, the brake pads varied according to driving and load conditions to ensure each wheel is braked to the optimum extent. are brought into contact with the brake discs and the sensitivity of the Brake Assist is increased. This primes the braking system for a possible emergency stop. Furthermore, an automatic jolt of the brakes warns the Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) driver of the danger. If the driver also fails to react to the warning jolt, Front Assist brakes automatically, EDL improves driving and steering characteristics when accelerating on road surfaces where each wheel helping to avoid a collision or reduce the severity of the accident. has a different degree of traction. The system operates automatically and is combined with the ABS system. At vehicle speeds below 30km/h, the system monitors the area ahead of the car for vehicles which might Using the ABS wheel sensors, EDL monitors the speed of the individual driving wheels. When a difference in present a threat of collision. The system uses a radar constantly compares the actual movement of the vehicle with pre-determined values and should a situation sensor in the radiator grille to monitor the area in front of the vehicle and within the limits of the system, arise where the vehicle starts to skid, ESP will apply the brakes to individual wheels and automatically adjust register certain situations, for example a pedestrian stepping onto the road suddenly. The system then the engine’s power output to correct the problem. ESP prevents the vehicle from losing control when trying to gives an immediate acoustic and visual signal to warn the driver. If the driver does not brake, the system avoid an accident, for example. It also reduces the effects of understeer or oversteer. initiates a jolt of the brake as a warning about the critical situation, while at the same time preparing for hard braking. If the driver fails to react, the system automatically performs emergency braking, within Extended Electronic Differential Lock (XDL) system limits. Ideally this will prevent a collision, or at least reduce its severity. XDL is an extension of the Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) function. When cornering, XDL responds to the load relief at the driven wheel/s on the inside of a corner. The ESP hydraulics are used for the XDL to apply Front Assist with Pedestrian Monitoring cannot replace the driver’s attentiveness.
