Members:

The Terrace Park Golf Shop would like to welcome you to the 2012 Golf Season with all of the golfing rules now in effect (March 17th). The club is anticipating a great year as we prepare for the season and welcome our new members. The warm winter weather has been a pleasant surprise and has helped boost everybody’s eagerness to get his or her golf games tuned up. The Golf Shop has been hard at work this past off-season preparing a full arsenal of new things to benefit our membership in the areas of teaching, merchandise, tournaments, demos, demo days, junior golf, men’s evening league, new scorecard, club repair, etc… We are looking forward to a great year and helping to make the most out of your time here at the club.

With the addition of the new fitness center, we’ve also added some Terrace Park logoed T- shirts and Hoody Sweatshirts for you to work out in. Please stop in and see up as new merchandise is coming in daily!

The 2012 tournament schedule is full of exciting events for everyone and we encourage that you make an effort to participate in as many events as possible. There will be tournaments for men, ladies, couples, juniors, and seniors. A new event will be added to the schedule this year on Saturday, May 19th – The Spring (3 Man) Sweepstakes. This is a spin-off of the popular Member-Member Sweepstakes and designed to help introduce our newer members to the current membership. We feel that this will be a great way to kick off the season. All tournaments are advertised through the Golf Shop Happenings emails and the sign-up sheets go up one month in advance on the bulletin boards in the Golf Shop. Please refer to the advertisement for more details.

Demo golf clubs are available in the Golf Shop for you to try on the Driving Range as well as on the Golf Course. Please stop in the Golf Shop to get assistance and check out the equipment that you want to try. All demos should be returned after you finish, allowing other members the same chance to try the new products. Please take care of them and keep them protected with the head covers when not in use. Over the years we have found that this is the best way to get you the best possible club for your game. Enjoy this service as the Golf Shop takes great pride in being able to offer you this opportunity.

Demo Days are planned and designed to allow everyone a chance to hit the latest and greatest in equipment, see other members, have a cold drink, and enjoy the club. The main Demo Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 28th from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm with the majority of the manufacturer’s being able to attend. Taylor Made will be here on Sunday, May 6th from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. If you are unable to make either of those dates, there will be a Men’s Night on the Driving Range on Thursday, May 24th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and the Ladies Night on the Driving Range on Tuesday, June 26th. These nights are designed for members to invite their guests out to hit all of the great new equipment – a fun way to socialize and spend an evening.

Our Junior Golf programs are a great way to introduce your child to this great game of golf and we take great pride in the junior programs that we offer. We have programs designed for all stages of their development and will prepare them for whatever they want to get out of the game of golf. Programs are specifically designed to prepare the children with the proper etiquette and rules of golf. We have had students develop into all types of players; social players, high school golf teams, high school state championships, collegiate players, PGM Management students, mini-tours, and even professional. We have two programs – the Little Linkster’s Camp and the Friday morning junior golf program. The Little Linkster’s Camp is the perfect way to introduce someone to the game and is a week long program in June which covers the basics necessary to learn the game – putting, short game, and full swing. The weekends with the kids applying what they have learned during the week to fun competitions against the other teams. Lots of prizes and a pizza party makes this a very popular event for the eager beginners. Once the kids have been introduced to the basics, we offer the Friday morning program which has the 5 and 9 holers, which again is based on experience. Each Friday morning, the kids either play 5 or 9 holes and receive instruction on different aspects of the game. This program will help prepare them for tournament golf like the junior club championship and their high school golf team. We offer a Tuesday morning program for the more experienced high school kids. This is just a day where the kids get together and play 9 holes. Participation and performance are important with this day as the top kids are treated to a trip to one of the top clubs in the country. Last year, the kids went to Pittsburgh and were able to play Fox Chapel Country Club which will host the 2012 Senior PGA Championship. A wonderful experience that the players will always remember. This year we are working on another great trip and trying to set up at either Firestone, Muirfield Village, Scioto, Wolf Run, or Val-Halla. Please refer to the junior golf flyers for all of the information.

The Tuesday evening men’s league is a new venture for the club this year and we are hoping that there will be good participation and camaraderie. The program is a 6-week event during the months of June and July. Teams will consist of two man teams with you picking your own partner. There will be a 6:00 pm Jet Start each week with the 1st tee closing beforehand based on the number of players – at 4:00 pm with a full field. A great way for you to play with one of your buddies and meet new members of the club. The format is a team net aggregate – whatever your team shoots less your handicaps. Teams need to participate in at least 4 of the 6 events in order to compete for the year end prizes. Entry fee is $75.00 per player. Nick will offer a special buffet each week to compliment to the event. Please see the flyer for full details.

The Green Committee has been hard at work designing a new scorecard for the 2012 season. The card will feature a picture of the Golf Shop and Clubhouse from the back nine looking back up towards the buildings. A nice new look to showcase all of our recent changes in the past few years. The ladies now have the green tees rated for them as well as having the red tees re-rated. The card will still have all of the room that everyone loves to have for all of their betting action. The men’s tees on hole #8 have increased by about twenty yards this winter and is reflected on the new card. Enjoy the new look.

The Golf Professional Staff can evaluate your current golf equipment and determine if you need to have new grips installed on your golf clubs. Please stop in the Golf Shop when you have a chance and we’ll inspect your equipment, give you a custom fit, and let you see all of the new grips for the 2012 season. Winn and Golf Pride have new grips that they have introduced this season that look great.

Please let the Golf Shop know if we can help with any of your golfing needs this season. We are glad that you are here and want to help make your experience the best we possibly can.

Entry Fee $75.00 per player (Limited to 1st 32 – 2 Man Teams)

A new 9 hole evening men's league is forming designed for you to play with your buddies as well as meet other members of the club. The league will run for 6 weeks and use a team net format each week. Each week you will be randomly paired with another 2-man team. Payouts will be paid weekly to winners as well as the year end total winners. Year end scoring will be based on each team’s four best scores out of six. Teams are required to compete in at least four of the six events to be eligible for the year end prizes.

Format: Each team will use their current handicap as of June 1st for the entire league. Players will play 9 holes each week in a team net format. Points will be based on the following format:

Example based on 32 teams…

1st Place – 32 points (ex: combined net 58) Tie 2nd Place – 31 points (ex: 3 teams shoot combined net 60) 5th Place – 28 points 6th Place – 27 points Continue until last place receives 1 point

Pole's - $1.00 each (this one could be profitable or expensive – how good do you putt?) This is an optional game each week. Prior to teeing off you will let the Golf Shop know if you are in or out of the Pole Game. During the round, each shot made longer than the length of the flagstick receives $1.00 from each player participating in the event.

Subs The Golf Shop will form a sub list in the event that you are unable to play one week to fill your position. Players are responsible for finding their own sub and should notify the Golf Shop of any changes. In the event that both members of the team are unable to attend an event, you will receive 0 points for that week. Teams will need to compete in at least 4 of the 6 events to be eligible for the year end prizes.
