Letter From

The Arc’s President The vision of The Arc of Evansville is to create a community that values all With donor support, The Arc of Evansville has been serving the individuals. Evansville area for 65 years. During this time, services such as vocational training and supports for employment, volunteer opportunities in the community, and the development of life skills have enabled individuals with disabilities to live meaningful lives. When barriers are removed for individuals with differing abilities, the unlimited potential is the result. You - our donors, friends, and neighbors - are the key to unlocking the unlimited potential of those we serve. Thank you for your past partnership with The Arc!

The organization has grown and evolved over the years to meet the changing needs of individuals with disabilities, their families, and our community. For 26 of our 65 years in existence, The Arc offered services through the Child Life Center (CLC), an inclusive preschool facility serving children with and without disabilities. After thoughtful consideration for The Arc’s future, the CLC closed on October 25, 2019. I am genuinely grateful for the support received from children and their families, volunteers, teachers, staff members, donors, community partners, and supporters. This decision was not easily made, but was necessary as we prepare for The Arc’s future. The mission of The Arc of Evansville is to empower individuals with disabilities to build relationships, gain independence, and achieve their full potential. Significant changes being made nationally, as well as locally, will impact the services and programs of individuals with disabilities in the coming years. In 2010, the National Institutes of Health reported, “All people, regardless of abilities, should have access to, choice of, and an opportunity to participate in a full range of community activities.” This mindset is creating a change in the way services for individuals with disabilities are offered. As a leading advocate for individuals with disabilities, and as a high-quality provider of services, The Arc’s priorities are changing as well. The Arc will focus on providing support in more community-based activities for those we serve. With this increased focus on community activities, additional funding will be necessary to continue providing our high-quality services. Will you partner with The Arc of Evansville to ensure the services of those with disabilities are secure? Your assistance will further our vision of creating a community that values all individuals and will benefit those we serve. Sincerely, Legacy Donors Deidra R. Conner Your gift to The Arc of Evansville empowers individuals with disabilities to achieve their full President potential.
