Symbian In June 1998, Psion PLC announced the formation of a joint venture company – Symbian – in partnership with Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia, the world leaders in mobile communications. Symbian’s principal asset is EPOC, an advanced operating system initially developed by Psion. EPOC forms the ‘engine’ to drive new products that will give mobile, wireless access to services such as e-mail, corporate information, the Internet and mobile electronic commerce.
