ADMISSIONS POLICY for WYE UNDER FIVES (Over Subscription Criteria)

At Wye Under Fives, we do our best to provide sessions for every local child who wishes to attend our Pre-School.

The minimum starting age is 2.5 years old. We follow Primary School criteria for age which generally gives a maximum of 2 years Pre-School education. Depending on your child’s date of birth they could be nearly 3 or just 2.5 when they start with us.

When places become available, primarily in September as older children leave to start school, it is important for us to get a balance between the taking in new children and allocating extra sessions to existing Pre-Schoolers.

When demand exceeds availability the following criteria will be used to allocate places, including the 30 hours free childcare places.

Places at Wye Under Fives for 30 hours free childcare are only available to families meeting our allocation criteria of 1 through to 4 and are dependent on production of an eligibility code. Other families requiring additional sessions above the universal 15 hours free childcare, who are not eligible for 30 hours free childcare, will be offered these sessions at our discretion and are subject to session availability.

1. Any child with special needs requirements. This can be for a variety of reasons including child development, looked after children and those registered on the Free for 2 scheme (criteria 2-4).

2. Children with siblings attending the Pre-School when a place is offered, providing their address has not changed to outside the local surrounding area.

3. Children resident in the Parish of Wye.

4. Children resident in Brook/Naccolt.

5. Children from the surrounding area whose older siblings previously attended the Pre-School, providing their address has not changed to outside the local surrounding area.

6. Children from the surrounding village areas, namely , Boughton Lees, Crundale, , Hinxhill and (not necessary in that order).

7. Children with older siblings currently at Lady Joanna Thornhill and living within the local surrounding area.

8. Children from Kennington area of Ashford.

Within the above criteria distance may also be used to prioritise children.

Within the above criteria older children have priority over younger children, in line with Kent County Council funding requirements.

Those children registered under criteria 1 may also be given additional sessions but are assessed on an individual basis and subject to session availability.
