MCC Australian Test players

The club has a long and proud tradition of providing members of Australian Test teams.

The very first Australian Test team which met England on the MCG in March 1877 contained three MCC players (Jack Blackham, Bransby Cooper and Bill Midwinter) and up to the Second World War, it was unusual for an Australian Test team not to contain at least one player from the club.

Members wandering through Level 2 of the Members Reserve can pause in the atrium to view the photographs of the MCC representatives who have played Test cricket for Australia.

The definition of a MCC Test representative has varied slightly. It is now accepted that a player must have played for the club in the same season that he played for Australia, However, this list also includes a few 19th century players who did not conform to this criteria but played for the MCC at some point in their career.
