Food & Beverage

DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include, but are not limited to…  Interns will often be asked to work long hours.  Interns must work all 70 home games unless family emergency, etc. While the team is on the road, interns will be given time off, etc.  Interns will be required to stay through the end of the season (September 2014) regardless of when the necessary hours are completed to receive school credit. However, the Mudcats understand that most schools start classes in mid-August, thus the team will work with the intern’s schedule once school starts.  Work directly with Director of F & B and its’ staff.  Assist with all aspects of F & B such as ordering, receiving and delivery of food and beverages to and from suppliers, concession stands, suites, picnic areas and pantry.  Assist with managing the manpower on event days/nights.  Assist with inventory control including physical monthly inventory.  Assist with the planning and implementation of any theme nights for upcoming season.  Assist with all aspects of the operation of the club in getting ready for the start of a new season.  Interns will gain the experience of learning the business of baseball, sport marketing, food and beverage, and event management.

Grounds Crew

DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES: In order for the internship program to work, the applicant must understand the following guidelines:  Interns will work long hours, up to 80 hours per week when the team is in town (similar hours to our full time staff).  Interns must work all 70 home games.  Interns will be required to begin in March and stay through the end of the baseball season (September 2014), regardless of when the necessary hours are completed to receive school credit. However, the Mudcats understand that most schools start classes in mid-August, thus the team will work with the intern’s schedule once school starts.  Work directly with Director of Field Operations.  Assist with all aspects of grounds crew including pre-season maintenance, daily turf management, pre-game set-up, and more.  Assist with all aspects of the operation of the club in getting ready for the start of a new season.  Interns will gain the experience of turf management in a atmosphere.

REQUIREMENTS:  Experience with turf management is a plus.

Mascot Handler / Back Up Performer

DESCRIPTION: Intern will be the handler for the main performer for most of the games. The intern will also perform as mascot “Muddy the Mudcat” for select games and community appearances.

QUALIFICATIONS: Previous mascot experience is required, you must interact well with people of all ages, be animated, and most importantly love to have fun. Candidates must be in good health and be able to sustain long periods of time in the heat.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include, but are not limited to…  Assisting with all mascot needs before, during and after games and select appearances.  Must be able to work nearly all of the team’s 70 home games April through September plus other special events (Flexible with schedule while school is still in session).  Perform as mascot as needed for select games and community appearances.  Perform other duties as assigned by the GM, Director of Promotions/Community Relations and Director of Special Events.

COMPENSATION: Internship is paid when the intern is performing as mascot.

Merchandising

DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include, but are not limited to…  Work directly with the Director of Merchandise.  Must be able to work all of the team’s 70 home games April through September. Will begin work in mid-March to assist merchandising with pre-season set up. (Flexible with schedule while school is still in session)  Intern will be responsible for maintaining souvenir store inventory and preparing the store for games. Intern will be responsible for checking in, tagging and distributing all new merchandise. The intern will keep the merchandise store stocked on an as-needed basis.  Intern will be responsible for souvenir store displays and merchandising.  Intern will assist with mail orders, and maintain the souvenir store website.  Intern will assist with all aspects of the operation of the club in getting ready for the start of a new season.  Intern will gain the experience of learning the business of baseball, sport merchandising and marketing, and event management.  Other duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION: Internship is unpaid, but organization will work with individual on getting school credit. Intern is also eligible to work in a paying position in the store during games.

Marketing & Promotions

DESCRIPTION: Interns will assist with and gain exposure and understanding of the “grass roots” marketing, community relations efforts, and promotional marketing for the Carolina Mudcats. Interns will gain experience in all aspects of the baseball industry, sport marketing, and event management.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include, but are not limited to…  Assisting with various mascot and player appearances, coordination of the School’s Out Program, coordination of baseball clinics, assist in the coordination of special events and planning and implementation of theme nights at .  Must be able to work nearly all of the team’s 70 home games April through September plus other special events (Flexible with schedule while school is still in session).  Helping with all aspects of in-game entertainment, promotions, in between inning contests, mascot entertainment and servicing corporate clients.  Intern may also assist with the running and management of the Customer Service booth during all home games.

The Marketing and Promotions interns will gain experience in supervising, scheduling and payroll of the Mudcats game day staffs. Intern will assist in all other duties assigned by the General and Director of Promotions.

Stadium Operations

REQUIREMENTS: Pursuing or completed four year college degree seeking entry into sports industry with a focus in Stadium Operations. Must be available to work all games and events which can include long hours for multiple days in a row.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include, but are not limited to…  Assist the Operations Department with game day logistics as well as setting up and breaking down of stadium before and after each game.  Assist with quality control of cleaning and maintenance, including preventive maintenance duties and inspections of facility to ensure a superior fan experience and safety.  Assist with maintenance of plumbing, electric, elevators, HVAC, scoreboard, and video board.  Assist with managing game day employees including ushers, bat boys, parking attendants, concourse workers, and post-game cleaning crew.  Assist with scheduling and payroll of all game day employees.  All other duties as assigned by the General Manager, Assistant General Manager, and Stadium Operations Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Availability to work all games and events  Must be a team player with strong leadership skills  Must be enthusiastic with a desire to work hard and have a positive “can-do” attitude  Ability to multi-task and handle responsibility  Self-motivated and ability to take initiative  Skills with various tool, and in different maintenance areas is a plus

Ticket Operations

REQUIREMENTS: Pursuing or completed four year college degree and a desire to learn and experience the business of professional baseball.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include, but are not limited to…  Must be able to work all of the team’s 70 home games April through September as well as office hours when Mudcats are on the road. (Flexible with schedule while school is still in session)  Assist the Ticket Operations Department by processing advance ticket sale orders.  Work in the ticket booth assisting customers with the purchase of tickets as well as advance ticket sales.  Collect and report game day ticket totals.  Assist in the scheduling and overseeing of a game day staff.  Distribute Mudcats information designed to help increase attendance at games and events.  Aid the overall efforts of the Mudcats in maximizing the collection and use of e-mail addresses, and fan data with the goal of selling more tickets to games and events.  Other duties as assigned by Director of Ticket Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Outgoing personality  Excellent verbal and written skills  Ability to multi-task  Experience with customer service a plus  Availability to work home games and office hours when the team is away  Willingness to learn ticket sales and have FUN!

Video Production Assistant

DESCRIPTION: The Video Production Assistant Internship is an opportunity to gain first- hand video production experience in a professional sports environment. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who have an interest in video production and a passion for sports. This position requires a great deal of time and hard work during the season. Once the baseball season begins in April, interns can expect to work over 40 hours a week depending on the team’s home schedule. Responsibilities include video shooting and editing, graphic design, and assisting in any on-site productions. Interns will have additional responsibilities including preparing equipment and content before the game, as well as serving as part of the Video Production Staff for live productions during the game. You will bring creativity and a desire to do creative projects for the team. Interns will work hand-in-hand with the front office staff to enhance the fan experience at the ballpark. Internship begins on Tuesday, April 1st, 2014 and continues for the length of the season or until the intern needs to return to college. Candidates may elect to use the internship for college credit or solely for experience if they wish. Interns must be available to work all 70 home games as well as a certain number of office hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES: As a Video Production Assistant intern, you will: • Work ALL Mudcats Home Games in the 2014 Season. • Run the cameras of on-field action that is displayed on the video board, shown in suites and recorded on video. • Work with Edirol and Sound Director to run in-game sound and video clips on video board. • Run line score on scoreboard and update in-game player stats. • Perform Instant Replay duties that display on the video board during games. • Video switching on GlobeCaster system which is recorded live on video and shown in suites. • Interact with the players and the media. • Interact with other game day staff and radio personnel. • Receive career planning advice and mentoring. • Video Editing for pre-game and in-game video pieces, and other video projects. • Recording commercials, player interviews and many other video recording projects. • Program video board and message center equipment daily (head shots, statistics, sponsor logos, birthdays, groups, etc). • Take digital pictures of crowds, fans, players, on-field promotions, etc.

REQUIRED SKILLS: • Must submit a demo reel to be considered • Submitting a portfolio is a plus • Previous video editing skills • Creativity for commercial/video ideas • Graphic design • Photography skills • Camera experience

BONUS SKILLS: • Knowledge of Edirol, Sound Director, GlobeCaster, Adobe Premier Pro, Vegas Video • Experience with Photoshop and/or Illustrator a plus • Experience with After Effects a major plus • Web site design (Java, HTML, ASP, etc.)

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must have a general understanding of baseball and professional sports. Previous editing and video/audio experience or knowledge is required. Must be well organized and must have the ability work with others. Interns must be willing to work long hours and weekends. Must be willing to cooperate and work well with all areas of our organization. Must have the ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment. Must have a team-player attitude and be willing to pitch in whenever needed. Must have the desire and determination to pursue a career in Professional Sports and must want to have an enjoyable internship experience!
