6th EUROPEAN WORKSHOP ON PLANT CHROMATIN 13-14 June 2019

Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research, Cologne

Scientific Organisers:

Claudia Köhler SLU, Uppsala

Valérie Gaudin INRA, Versailles

Franziska Turck (local Organizer) MPIPZ, Cologne Thank you to our Sponsors: Dear participants,

On behalf of the organizing committee, I am pleased to welcome you to the 6th European Workshop on Plant Chromatin.

When the EWPC workshop series started in 2009 at the ETH Zürich, the initiators Valerie Gaudin, Claudia Köhler and Lars Hennig wanted to provide a networking platform to young researchers that were just setting up groups The company of Biologists or new projects in the emerging field of plant chromatin regulation in Europe. The goal was to promote collaborations and personal connections. Indeed, several collective grant applications and joint publications have had their origins at an EWPC, testifying the success of the workshop.

The EWPC has grown into an open biannual 2-day series that has Deutsche been hosted by different European research institutions. Importantly, Forschungsgemeinschaft the EWPC remains the only established series on the topic Plant Chromatin in the European Research Area and as such has become a fixed date in the calendar of many former attendees. At the MPIPZ, we feel very privileged to have been selected to host the 6th EWPC.

Over the years, the EWPC has remained a forum in which younger researchers can make their entry to the research community in a relatively personal atmosphere. As the number of registrations increased over the years, short poster talks were introduced in 2015; in 2017 the event was further Diagenode enhanced by an invited keynote speaker. We have kept these traditions going and are very pleased to welcome Julie Law from the SALK Institute to give a keynote lecture that will be open to all researchers working at the MPIPZ. Furthermore, we are lucky to have the space and facilities at the MPIPZ that allowed us to add an actual poster session to the 6th EWPC and we are looking forward to lively poster lunch discussions.

Dispendix Sadly, Lars Hennig passed away last year. We will honour his memory in a session dedicated to his contribution a peer, mentor and friend. As local organiser, I have to thank many helping hands, from my group and the MPIPZ administration and technical staff, who have made this event possible. We are also very grateful to our sponsors from institutions and companies, whose contributions have considerably enhanced the quality of the event. ZEISS Research Microscopy I wish us all two exciting days on our favourite research topic and Solutions hope that we will all meet again at the 7th EWPC in 2021!
