INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Jack up vehicle and support w/ jack stands. 2. Remove the negative battery cable. 3. Remove wheels. Mark the wheels so you can put them back in their original locations. ( 19mm socket ) 4. Remove the nut that attaches the tie rod end to the spindle. Separate the outer tie rod end from the spindle. ( 21mm socket ) 5. 08 and earlier- disconnect the antilock wires where they clip together on the inside of the fender well. Open the plastic clips that hold the antilock wires to the arms and remove the bolt on mounts that hold the wires to the arms. Take the metal bracket off of the wire. 6. 09 and later- remove the bolt that holds the antilock wire to the side of the spindle. ( 8mm socket ) 7. Bend the metal bracket that holds the antilock wire to the spindle, and free the wire from the bracket, that bracket will not be reused. For 09 and up free the wire from the spindle. 8. Remove the calipers and hang them out of the way, do not hang the calipers on the brake lines. Clean the dried up locktite off of the bolts with a wire wheel. ( 21mm socket, wire wheel ) 9. Using a cut off wheel cut the excess threads sticking out from the top sway bar link. Use the photo below for reference. Leave a couple threads sticking out. ( cut off wheel )

10. Remove the nuts from the upper sway bar links and swing the links down out of the way so you can get to the upper ball joint nut. ( 15mm socket ) 11. Separate the upper and lower ball joints and remove the spindles. ( 21mm socket, 27mm socket ) 12. Remove the 4 bolts that hold the hub into the spindle, note the direction of the dust cover and the position of the antilock wire. Remove the hub from the spindle. Clean the dried up locktite off of the bolts with a wire wheel. ( 15mm socket, wire wheel ) 13. Put the hub and dust shield into the new cst spindle the same way it came out of the stock spindle, using locktite bolt the hub to the new spindle using the stock bolts and tighten. Important: you must re-use the dust cover, the spacing it provides between the hub and the spindle is critical. ( 15mm socket )

14. Repeat steps 11 and 12 for the other spindle. Note: the colorado zq8 is factory lowered 1” from the height of the z85. In order to gain this additional inch back, use the optional billett spring sapacer css-c16-7. 15. If you are installing this kit on a zq8 model and you are installing the optional coil spacer, continue on with the next steps. If you are installing the kit on a z85 model or you are not installing the coil spacer on your zq8 skip to step # 21. 16. Remove the front shocks. 17. Put a few marks the front shocks so you will be able to realign the coil and upper pieces of the shock when you go to reassemble them. 18. Important: use extreme caution when working with compressed coils. If you don’t have a strut compressor, or are not sure how to disassemble / reassemble a strut bring it to a shop that has the proper tools and training. 19. using a strut compressor, compress the coil and remove the nut on the top of the shock. Disassemble the shock and insert the aluminum spacer between the rubber piece and the plastic piece. 20. Re-align the parts of the shock using the marks you made before, compress the coil and replace the nut that holds the shock together, use locktite. 21. Reinstall the shocks into the truck using the stock hardware and locktite. 22. Install the spindles using oem hardware and locktite. Tighten the upper and lower tapers, do not attach the tie rods at this time. ( 21mm socket, 27mm socket ) 23. Route the antilock wires up the front side of the spindle, through the clips and re-attach the wire. Bolt the wire to the front of the spindle using the supplied 3/8” adel clamps. If your truck is an ’09 or newer use 1/4” adel clamps. bolt it into the side of the spindle and attach the antilock wire to the steering arm and the upper side using the supplied adel clamps and allen bolts. Cut off the corrugated plastic sheath and slide the rubber mount up a little. Use the photos below for reference. ( 5/32 allen wrench )

24. Do the brake lines one side at a time, it helps to have two people to do this. Try not to let too much brake fluid run out of the lines. 25. Separate the brake line at the frame and plug the hard line so fluid does not leak out while you change the brake line. Set the caliper on the table with the brake line facing up. Remove the brake line. Install the new brake line using the supplied brass washers and the stock bolt. Point the brake line up and in slightly to stay out of the way of the bleeder. ( 11mm socket, 11/16 wrench, 10mm wrench ) 26. Bolt the caliper to the spindles using the stock bolts and locktite. ( 21mm socket ) 27. Re attach the soft line to the hard line at the frame. Secure the line with the stock clip. 28. Repeat step 24 for the other side of the truck. 29. Bolt the calipers to the spindles using the stock bolts and locktite. ( 21mm socket ) 30. You may need to loosen the brake lines and twist them a little to get the lines to stay where you want them, do this if necessary and re-tighten. 31. Re-attach the sway bar links to the sway bar using locktite. ( 15mm socket ) 32. Attach the tie rod ends to the spindles using the stock nuts and locktite. ( 21mm socket ) Stop!! If you are not lifting the rear of the truck, skip to step 40. 33. You need to modify the carrier bearing to drop it. Use the photo below for reference. When you are done the round steel part of the carrier bearing should be about 1/4” from the bolt on plate.

34. Cut the carrier bearing mount and remove the 2 pieces that were bolted on, sand off the paint where it needs to be welded, using the supplied 7/16 bolts, bolt the raw plate that is supplied in the kit to the cross member and weld the carrier bearing to the plate. Make sure it is centered in between the bolts. ( sawsall, 18mm socket, 5/8 socket, 11/16 wrench ) 35. Paint any raw metal to prevent rust. 36. Install the rear lift as follows: 37. 08 and older - Carefully bend the upper bracket and the brake line (at the frame) down to gain length for the new leaf springs or the add-a-leaf at full droop. ( 13mm socket ) 38. 09 and newer - Remove the nut that holds the brake line block to the rear , pull the brake lines off of the stud to allow extra slack while installing the rear lift. ( 13mm socket ) 39. Remove the rear shocks. ( 21mm socket, 21mm wrench, 10mm socket ) 40. If you are installing the add-a-leaf do so as follows, if you are installing the optional leaf pack skip to the next step. Support the rear end with a floor jack, and remove the drivers side u-bolts. Clamp the 3 top leafs together and remove the center pin for the leaf pack. Insert the add a leaf between the overload and the 3 leaf main pack. Install the new center bolt and bolt the pack together. Trim the excess length center pin. Reinstall the u-bolts and repeat for the other side. 41. Optional leaf pack installation; remove the bolts that hold the e-brake cables to the rear leaf springs, cut the brackets off the cables. Be careful not to damage the cables. Support the rear end with a jack and remove the drivers side . Install the new lift spring using the stock bolts and u-bolts. Repeat for the passenger side of the truck. Do this one side at a time so you don’t have to worry about the pinion falling down. Make sure you get the springs in the correct way, the end that is shortest from the mounting hole to the center pin is the front of the spring. 42. Torque the u-bolts to 80 ft. Lbs. ( 21mm socket ) 43. Install new rear shocks ( not included in kit ) ( 21mm socket, 21mm wrench, 10mm socket ) 44. 09 and newer - Reattach the brake line to the rear axle, make sure you have enough slack in the brake lines at full droop, depending on how high you lifted the back of the truck you may need to make a bracket. 45. Bleed the front and check the brake fluid. ( 10mm wrench ) 46. Turn the front wheels and make sure the brake lines and antilock wires do not get pinched or kinked, adjust as necessary. ( 21mm socket ) 47. Re-check all fasteners; make sure everything you have taken off is tight. ( 21mm socket ) 48. Reinstall wheels and torque to factory specs. If you are installing aftermarket wheels you need to remove the small metal clips that are slid over the studs on the rear drums to make sure the wheel sits flat. ( 19mm socket ) 49. Reattach the battery cable. 50. Depending on the new tire size you go with it may be necessary to trim the front bumper to clear the tires when you turn. 51. Align the vehicle.
