ENGLEHART - The Town of Englehart has received a substance inventory re- garding the former theatre building on the northeast corner of the intersection of Third Street and Fourth Avenue. The substance inventory provides an analysis of any hazardous substances such as asbestos that exist in the building. A small amount of material was found on the outside of the building, town chief administrative offi cer Shawn LaCarte told the council at their regular meeting July 22. “There wasn’t a lot but there were a few little things,” he said. LaCarte obtained council’s approval to now proceed on moving the property into the town’s name. HOCKLEYBEER.CA The next step will be to put out Request For Proposals from contractors who could carry out the job of tearing the building down, he said. “It’s something we need to do.” The property has been “a hindrance in our downtown.” The substance inventory will be provided to the contractor who demolishes the building, he stated.
