Płock is a city on the Vistula River (Wisła) in central .

It is located in the Masovian Voivodeship and Płock has previously been the capital of the Płock Voivodeship. According to last records, there are 120,000 inhabitants in the city.

Plock is about 110 km from the largest and capital city of Poland, . Also it is about 370 km from the second largest city, Kraków. ABOUT PŁOCK HOW TO ARRIVE PŁOCK FROM AIRPORTS

 Zloty is currency of Poland.  If you want to exchange your money, it is not recommended you to exchange it in airports. You can get low price because of high commission rate.  Kantor is an exchange office that foreigners can exchange their currency.  Also as another option, you can keep your money in your bank account card and when you insert the card to any ATM, you will be able to get money with currency of country that you are in. Accommodation costs: Double room: 300 PLN/month Single room: 430 PLN/month One night: 40 PLN /month

All students are required to pay the deposit - 300 PLN. The deposit is refundable at the end of the stay. You have to pay your rent till 15 every month (for example 15th October, 15th November etc. ) and you have to pay by cash in

Cash Register “KASA” (Pl. Dąbrowskiego 2 – room A116).  Segment in which students live consists of two double bedrooms and a bathroom.

 Each room is equipped with a desk, a bed and a wardrobe.

 We provide a wired Internet connection and landline in all rooms.

 Students can use: the two TV rooms, exercise rooms, and laundry. Each floor has a fully equipped kitchen.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN THE CITY

You can also buy a city card:  for one month (Monday to Sunday) normal costs 72zł, half-price (with student card) costs 36zł  for one month (Monday to Friday) normal costs 60zł, half-price (with student card) costs 30zł  for three months (Monday to Sunday) normal costs 190zł, half-price (with student card) costs 95zł  for three months (Monday to Friday) normal costs 158zł, half-price (with student card) costs 79zł

STUDENT CARD

 You need to have your student card.  You have to pick up this card from the Dean’s Office and the date will be given to you directly. When you have your card, you have discounts in the bus and in the cinemas etc.

 If you are in Poland, you will probably try pierogi that is popular. Woman workers will be welcoming you in traditional polish clothes.

And you can go to Gary Babci Krysi pierogi restaurant in order to taste it.

 Besides of pierogi, kebab is one of the most eaten food. You can try it in Ksantos restaurant which is in Auchan.

 Pizza is also one of the most eaten meal in Poland. There are various restaurants that you can eat pizza. But if you want italian style, then

you can go to Festa Italiana pizza restaurant.

 Besides of these restaurants, there is Mc Donalds that is popular and you can prefer some nice restaurants in Old Town Square as well. POPULAR POLISH FOODS

 Pierogi - Pierogi are filled dumplings of Central and Eastern European origin, especially Poland, made by wrapping unleavened dough around a savory or sweet filling and cooking in boiling water, or pan-frying.

 Zapiekanka - A zapiekanka is an open-face sandwich made of half of a baguette or other long roll of bread, topped with sautéed white mushrooms, cheese and sometimes other ingredients, and toasted until the cheese melts. Served hot with ketchup, it is a popular street food in Poland. Żurek - In West Slavic countries, as well as in Belarus and Hungary, fermented cereals, such as rye, wheat, oatmeal, or sourdough, are used to make soups. In Poland and parts of Belarus, rye is traditional for making żur; a variant made with wheat flour instead of rye is known in Poland as barszcz biały.

Gołąbki - Gołąbki is the Polish name of a dish popular in cuisines of Central Europe, made from boiled cabbage leaves wrapped around a filling of minced pork or beef, chopped onions, and rice or barley. Bigos - a stew of sauerkraut and meat, mainly kiełbasa, including cabbage

Rosół - clear chicken broth Barszcz - its strictly vegetarian version is the first course during the Christmas Eve feast, served with uszka (tiny ear-shaped dumplings) with mushroom filling (sauerkraut can be used as well, depending on the family tradition). There i salso a version which is popular in daily basis without uszka.

Flaki - beef or pork tripe stew with marjoram

Kotlet schabowy - a pork breaded cutlet; made of pork tenderloin (with the bone or without), or of pork chop.

Placki kartoflane/ziemniaczane - potato pancakes usually served with sour cream/meat

INTERESTING PLACES IN PŁOCK

 There are some nice places to spend time in Plock.  Firstly, you should visit the Old Town where people usually go to have fun. There are so many restaurants, cafes and events in Old Town.

 Tumska is the name of a street that contains lots of markets, nice cafes and also beautiful ice-cream places. It is near to Old Town.

 Zoo Plock is ten minutes away from the university. You can go there on foot and have fun with your friends. Plock Pier is a pleasant pier in Płock, reaching into the Vistula River.

The pier in Płock is also a part of the marina.

At the end of the Pier, there is a restaurant.

Before leaving Plock, you should visit Tumskie Hill and watch the great view over the Vistula river and bridge. There are lots of areas to walk in Płock.

People who live here, especially prefer riverside (Wisła).

You can walk, run or do exercises against the riverscape. Podolszyce Północ Park is one of the best places to walk.

Other option is bike. Because there are also bikeways along the riverside and you can find bikes in some streets of Plock. Around Old Town, there are bikes as well.
