FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CINCINNATI BALLET HOSTS DANCE THEATRE OF and DTH collaborate to provide educational programs in schools and at the Cincinnati Ballet Center

CINCINNATI, OH. Cincinnati Ballet is pleased welcome the iconic Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) to Cincinnati November 3-4 for two days of special performances and appearances, accompanied by Virginia Johnson, Artistic Director of DTH.

With assistance from Cincinnati Ballet’s Education & Outreach Department, DTH will pay visit to local schools, including The School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) where DTH Ballet Master, Kellye Saunders will teach a series of master classes, sponsored by The Mayerson Foundation, for students of the dance program. SCPA students are invited to a special rehearsal at the Cincinnati Ballet Center where they will have the opportunity to personally interact with company dancers. The company will also present a special interactive demonstration at Withrow High School introducing students to the art and science of classical dance while sharing their key message: “your life is what you make of it. You get out of it what you put into it.”

Both Cincinnati Ballet and DTH encompass comprehensive arts education programs dedicated to community engagement and empowering children to discover and actualize their dreams in the arts. “DTH is known for their powerful community outreach,” says Julie Sunderland, Director of Education & Outreach for Cincinnati Ballet. “We are so grateful to be a part of bringing this extraordinary company to Cincinnati and to be able to work together to show young dancers that they can do anything they put their minds to.”

Cincinnati Ballet is providing rehearsal space and equipment to make DTH’s stay in the Queen City possible, and will make available the Cincinnati Ballet Center to host a private educational fundraiser for select guests of DTH. The closed event features a company meet and greet and a special look at VESSELS, a piece choreographed by Darrell Grand Moultrie with music by Ezio

Basso, recently debuted in Washington, D.C. All proceeds go to DTH and to help fund their future projects.
