The period after the 2015 amendments to the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 has undoubtedly been interesting times. Whether the consequent evolution of the law will turn out better for the Arbitration regime, both international and domestic, will depend on how effectively the law is likely to be implemented. The last few months have been particularly noteworthy. The applicability of the 2015 amendments to the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 itself was a bone of contention before various courts. In The Board of Control for Cricket in India Vs. Kochi Cricket Pvt. Ltd., the Supreme Court categorically held that, “…Section 36 as amended should apply to Section 34 applications filed before commencement of Amended Act.” The result of this is that there is no automatic stay of the Arbitration award even if the award was made before October 2015.     A lot of students face problems in the General Awareness / Business Awareness / General Knowledge section of MBA entrance exams like XAT, IIFT, and SNAP. That happens because they start "preparing" for it once they are done with their Quant, LR/DI and Verbal prep (sometimes even after CAT) - which is often too late. Ideally, no one should have to prepare for something like General Awareness. But sadly, we don't live in an ideal world. And even those, who try to prepare with the help of websites, news services, etc. suffer from too much information. They cannot filter the relevant information and often give up on GK all-together. It should not be that way. Even if you can devote just 3 hours a week to GK from now on, you will be very well placed when the time comes. It doesn't take much because you don't need a high score to clear the cutoff. The problem is most students are so blissfully unaware about what is going on in the world and clearing the cutoff is not that big a deal. Just do an experiment, next time you are in a group of students preparing for Management Entrance exams, ask them - "Who is the Vice President of India?" You will get what I am talking about. As a first step, you need to know what actually gets asked in the exam and you can find that in the PDF. You will find 6 past year GK papers (with answers) in this PDF.
