Parish News Issue Two 2012

Chairman’s Report

Help Us to Help You

I am sure we all want the community and environment in which we live to be properly maintained. As Chairman of the Parish Council I am made constantly aware that residents want to the Parish looking good, but all too often it is difficult to know who is responsible for what.

In modern village life there are lots of services, which we all rely on and which are administered by lots of different agencies and organisations; County Council, Borough Council, and Thames Water just to name a few. It is a real challenge to know who to contact when things are not working or are in need of attention.

Well, you do not have to worry or search any longer. Whether it is a light not working, a blocked drain, a large pothole, or unsightly graffiti, all you have to do is ring the Ash Parish Council Office on 01252 328287, or e-mail of- [email protected]. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff will be happy to help you and will report any problems to the right agency so a speedy resolution can be achieved. To help the staff please give a detailed explanation and where possible the exact location. I know from experience that the sooner problems are reported the sooner they are resolved.

Nigel Manning Chairman Ash Parish Council

Ash Parish Council will, for the third year running, be holding its annual ASH in Bloom competition. It is hoped that more Parish residents than ever will enter the event this year, and contribute towards making the Parish a brighter and greener place in which to live.

Residents may enter the competition in their own right or nominate a neigh- bour, friend or other Parish resident. This year the categories are; Best Hanging Basket; Best Tub/Container; Best Garden Border; Best Front Garden and Best Kept Allotment.

This year an even greater emphasis will be placed on sustainability, especially with the threat of hose pipe bans looming over the Parish.

So with winter a dim and distant memory, and with summer approaching, it is time to get into the garden, dust off the tools, don the Gardening gloves, and get planting and growing.

Christmas Fantasia 2011

Ash Parish Council would like to sincerely apologise to Managing Director, Tony Rafamarti and Manager Dominic Barnes and his team at Bridges Estate Agents, for the unfortunate omission to include them in the list of local businesses who provided such fantastic support during Christmas Fantasia 2011. Bridges are an integral part of the community team as they provide the electricity which lights up the Christmas tree for the whole of the festive season. The staff also provide a wonderful warm haven in their office for the residents of Abbey Wood Nursing Home so they too can enjoy the carol singing and switching on of the Christmas lights by Father Christmas.
