10 Regional Transportation Plan Projects

• 82nd/Airport Way grade separation • Multimodal safety improvements including sidewalk widening, crossings, lighting, adding a planting strip, median, and other countermeasures • ETC with transit priority and access/safety • Seventies bikeway • Bike and pedestrian gaps at intersections • 82nd/Strawberry Lane intersection improvements • I-205 multi-use path gap from OR224 to OR212

11 Current Local Opportunities

• 82nd/Airport Way interchange $87M (Half funded by Port) • Multi-modal connectivity study (Killingsworth to Alderwood) $500K • Enhanced Transit Corridor Improvements $175M • 82nd Ave/Jonesmore MAX station elevator $TBD • 82nd Ave Safety Corridor $70-100M • Multnomah Co. • Clackamas Co. $70-120M

• Additional roadway elements (stormwater, $60M-120M signal upgrades, ADA ramp reconstruction, pavement) 12 NE 82nd and Airport Way- Existing

13 14 • Every person, regardless of mode of transportation, must pass through this intersection to access the airport terminal. – 20 million annual passengers, over 10,000 employees, and visitors • Another 6,000 people work on Airport Way (PDX to 122nd) • Airport expanding to accommodate 35 million passengers

15 Opportunity

• Grade-separate eastbound Airport Way • Westbound Airport Way stops only for pedestrians and bicycles • Eastbound U-Turns return drivers to the terminal • Traffic signal controls the left turns • stays where it is • Occupies the least amount of developable land compared to other alternatives • Preliminary design begins in Fall 2019 • Construction would tentatively begin 2022 • Estimated total cost estimate: $87,000,000 (2022 $) 16 Looking West (toward PDX)
