INDIAN CULTURE AND HERITAGE

CULTURE

Culture is a word for the 'way of life' of groups of people, means the way they do things. Excellence of taste in the fine arts and humanities, also known as high culture. An integrated pattern of human knowledge, belief, and behavior,the outlook, attitudes, values, morals, goals, and customs shared by a society.

HERITAGE

Heritage can refer to practices or characteristics that are passed down through the years, from one generation to the next. Heritage is often used to discuss a cultural aspect or tradition that has been passed down through generations.

The culture of India is the oldest culture of the world around 5,000 years. Indian culture is considered as the first and supreme culture of the world. According to the history India has been recognized as the birth place of the religions like and Buddhism.

There is a common saying about India UNIVERSITY IN DIVERSITY means India is a diverse country where people of many religions live together peacefully with their own cultures. People of various religions differ in their languages, food, tradition, rituals etc, however they live with unity.

The national language of India is HINDI. However there are 22 official languages and 400 languages are spoken daily in India in its various states and territories.

NORTH INDIA:

JammuandKashmir, Punjab, Haryana, HimachalPradesh, Utter Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Delhi, Chandighar, Jarkhand are the north Indian states and territorities.

Official Languages: Urdu, Hindi, English are the official languages of north India.

Wheat is the staple food of north India. Punjabi food is known for being spicy and tasty. NAAN is the popular form of flat bread eaten in north India.

ATTIRE [clothes]: Women wear salwar kameez, ghagra choli. Men wear kurta, kameez and sharvani.

SOUTH INDIA:

Telangana, Andhrapradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, are the important states of .

Rice is the staple food of south India.

Coconut is the important ingredient in Kerala. Hyderabadi Biryani is special in Telagana. Andhrapradesh is special for pickles.

Indian food is most popular for its diversity. The variety of foods, spices and dishes that are native to India makes Indian food one of the most wholesome foods in the world

Kinds of food The food in India is of many types. The kind of food people eat depends on the kind of food grown in a particular region. It also depends on the climatic conditions or weather of that place . Ex: is suitable for growing of rice so it is called as Rice Bowl of India. The main food of a place is called staple food.
