This move prompted the London Assembly’s Culture, Sport and Tourism committee to look into the issue of redevelopment for London clubs. With Fulham and Brentford yet to secure new stadiums for their clubs and question marks remaining over Arsenal’s and Tottenham’s grounds the issue is a live one. We do not want to see more clubs leave London. During the 2002/03 season about 5 million fans watched professional football in London. In addition, hundreds of thousands of Londoners participate every year in club sponsored community projects and play football. This report seeks to ensure that this added value isn’t lost to Londoners. We did not set out to judge local situations but to tease out lessons learnt by London football clubs. Football is more than just a business: the ties that a club has with its area and the fans that live or come from there are great. We recommend that more clubs have supporters on their board and applaud the work of Supporters Direct in rejuvenating the links between clubs and their fan base.

  • Premier League, 2018–2019
Premier League, 2018–2019 “The Premier League is one of the most difficult in the world. There's five, six, or seven clubs that can be the champions. Only one can win, and all the others are disappointed and live in the middle of disaster.” —Jurgen Klopp Hello Delegates! My name is Matthew McDermut and I will be directing the Premier League during WUMUNS 2018. I grew up in Tenafly, New Jersey, a town not far from New York City. I am currently in my junior year at Washington University, where I am studying psychology within the pre-med track. This is my third year involved in Model UN at college and my first time directing. Ever since I was a kid I have been a huge soccer fan; I’ve often dreamed of coaching a real Premier League team someday. I cannot wait to see how this committee plays out. In this committee, each of you will be taking the helm of an English Football team at the beginning of the 2018-2019 season. Your mission is simple: climb to the top of the world’s most prestigious football league, managing cutthroat competition on and off the pitch, all while debating pressing topics that face the Premier League today. Some of the main issues you will be discussing are player and fan safety, competition with the world’s other top leagues, new rules and regulations, and many more. If you have any questions regarding how the committee will run or how to prepare feel free to email me at [email protected].

  • Character of Area Study
Watford Character of Area Study Adopted December 2011 0B1.0 Introduction The Borough of Watford is a well established urban centre in West Hertfordshire that contains a diverse patchwork of areas reflecting different types of built form. These character areas provide the spatial framework for local neighbourhoods and reflect the multifunctional nature of the town as a location for employment, leisure, study and residential provision. Although these areas provide a network of urban form, rich in “place identity”, they remain at risk of degradation from the pressures of new development. There is therefore a need to identify the Borough’s existing character areas and to provide a reference for guiding contextually responsive development that reinforces local character. 2.0 Urban Conservation Strategy 2.1 The need for a comprehensive study identifying character areas within the Borough was set out in the Council’s Urban Conservation Strategy, as detailed in the Watford District Plan 2000 (adopted 2003). The Urban Conservation Strategy sets out to deliver a package of different documents covering the various heritage assets within the town, including: conservation areas, Statutory Listed Buildings, Locally Listed Buildings and archaeology. The Character of the Area Study provides an overarching resource on urban form for the whole Borough and not just areas or buildings that are designated as heritage assets and referred to in the District Plan and the Urban Conservation Strategy. 2.2 The Watford District Plan 2000 and the related Supplementary Planning Guidance Note 28 (adopted 2003) includes information on Historic Environment Character Zones in Watford. This map based resource provides general information on the historical character zones that exist within the Borough and their archaeological potential.

NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL MANAGING SAFETY AT DESIGNATED SPORTS GROUNDS 1. Introduction This policy document has been produced by the Resources Department, Norfolk County Council, and is the agreed policy and procedure for managing safety at designated sports grounds within the county. It identifies the roles and responsibilities of the Council in undertaking its statutory duties and has been consulted on with both the Emergency Services and the Sports Grounds Safety Authority. 2. Definitions The 1975 Act defines a sports ground as a place where sports or other competitive activities take place in the open air, where accommodation has been provided for spectators consisting of artificial structures or natural structures artificially modified for the purpose. Under the provisions of section 1 of the 1975 Act the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport may designate as requiring a safety certificate any sports ground that has accommodation for more than 10,000 spectators, or 5,000 in the case of Premier League and Football League grounds in England and Wales. These sports grounds are referred to as designated grounds. The Safety Advisory Group (SAG) is a multi-agency advisory group consisting of the appropriate members of local authority staff, representatives of Norfolk Constabulary, Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, East of England Ambulance Service, CNC Building Control, the Certificate Holder (Norwich City Football Club) and the Sports Grounds Safety Authority. 3. Policy Aim Norfolk County Council’s policy aim, working in conjunction with its partner agencies, is to ensure the reasonable safety of spectators attending any designated sports ground. 4. Legislative Duty Under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975 (as amended) “the 1975 Act” Norfolk County Council (“the Council”) has a statutory duty: • To issue a General Safety Certificate for each designated sports ground within the county, containing such terms and conditions as the County Council considers necessary or expedient to secure reasonable safety.
