People of the Passion

A meditation over Three Hours for Good Friday The Venerable Dr Trevor Jones Good Friday is a time for us to journey with Jesus on his 2.00pm: Pilate way to the Cross. On this journey Jesus identifies with us …they took Jesus form Caiaphas to Pilate’s in our human predicament which separates us from God. headquarters… (John 18:28 – 19:16) Through his sacrifice on the cross Jesus defeats evil, breaks the cycle of sinfulness and restores our Pilate asks, ‘What is truth?’ but fails to discern the answer relationship with God and each other. The authentic love of Jesus is limitless, precarious, vulnerable. Our Father……...

Read Psalm 35 Thanks be to thee O Lord Christ, …never shall the Cross forsake me; For all the benefits which thou hast given us; Lo! It glows with peace and joy For all the pains and insults which thou hast borne for us. (John18: 12-24) Love thee more dearly, and follow thee more nearly; For thine own sake. Amen. Annas and Caiaphas fear a revolution and will do (Richard of Chichester, 1197-1253) anything to stop it. Yet the revolution Jesus brings is rooted in mercy and love, deeply embedded in the life of God. Keep watch, dear Lord, With those who wake, or watch or weep this night, Read Psalm 27 And give your angels charge over those who sleep. ….love so amazing, so divine, Tend the sick, demands my soul, my life my all.
