Position: Director, Philmont Training Center, Team Lead- Program Administrator Department: Business Operations Position location: Philmont Ranch, Cimarron, NM

Introduction: is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to serve as the Director of the Philmont Training Center. The ideal candidate will have a background in council operations, family camping and program administration.

Job Overview: This position manages the daily operations, strategic planning and marketing of the Philmont Training Center. The Philmont Training Center Director will lead the PTC team, presently comprised of 2 full time and up to 56 seasonal employees in providing a world class experience to all who spend time at PTC. This will include facilitating family program during summer months and supporting the myriad of different requirements presented by the groups that choose PTC for their event.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Gives leadership to the Philmont Training Center Operation. Guides the seasonal managers and seasonal staff as they support the summer conferences and the fall, winter, and spring conference programs.

• Responsible for $1.5 million in revenue and manage the operation budget to a surplus of $1.1 million. Assist in the development of the operating and capital budget for the PTC.

• Oversee and manage the Philmont Training Center registration process, including the daily management of the PTC Registration coordinator.

• Aid in the recruitment of the seasonal staff for the Philmont Training Center. Develop a training program to prepare seasonal staff for their summer assignment and fall, winter and spring conference support assignment.

• Facilitate the operation of the Family Program to support the age group programs, insuring that standards are maintained, best practices are followed in all program activities, equipment and materials are available to support program delivery, training and evaluations of Philmont Training Center Staff takes place and facilities are monitored and maintained.

• Develop and facilitate the operation of the Philmont Family Adventure camp to support family programming, ensuring that standards are maintained, best practices are followed in all program activities, equipment and materials are available to support program delivery, training and evaluations of Philmont Training Center Staff takes place and facilities are monitored and maintained.

• Evaluate and monitor the facilities at the PTC and work with the facilities department to assure repair, maintenance and upgrades occur to maintain and improve a world class training facility.

• Coordinate strategic partnerships with key individuals or organizations to support and enhance the operations of Philmont Scout Ranch. Strengthen relationships with special interest groups.

• Lead and recruit volunteer PTC committees and work with committees to strategically fulfill the mission of the Philmont Training Center. • In conjunction with committees and the various stakeholders at the National office develop the Philmont Training Center summer and fall conference schedule including the timing, titles, descriptions and marketing materials, developing a plan of accountability for filling the conference schedule.

• Manage the PTC marketing plan and ambassador program.

• Works with participants to ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction is delivered through the Philmont Experience.

Qualifications/ Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree required. • Ability to collaborate, inspire and hold accountable multiple stakeholders including participants, volunteers, seasonal staff and other Philmont Departmental employees. • 4+ years management experience including Scout programming, activities, budget management and teaching/coaching. • Must be able to communicate with all levels of the organization both internally and externally. • Great attention to detail, highly organized with multi-tasking skills.

Compensation: Salary Range $55,000 - $70,000 annually plus housing and utilities. The National Council, is an equal opportunity employer.
