Airports - Non Tenders Section Type Description Date Published Loans & Grants China extended Sudan a $700 million soft loan to help finance the construction of a new airport in the capital, Al Khartoum. Sudanese News Agency (Suna) reported, Jul 10, 2013 indicating that an agreement on the above was signed lately between Sudanese officials and the State owned Russian Exim Bank. The loan is to be repaid over 5 years. Unnamed diplomats predicted the loan was launched by China after Khartoum allowed exporting South Sudan's crude oil, controlled by Chinese companies, via Port Sudan port in the north. Works on the airport would start by the end of 2013, to be completed in 3 years. Negotiations are ongoing with the ADB on $ 318 million loan to part finance the construction of a new passengers terminal at Sharm El Sheikh airport. The terminal Sep 29, 2013 would have a design capacity to handle annually about 10 million passengers. That was announced by Pilot Gad Al Kareem Nasr, Chairman of the Egyptian Airports Company. Meanwhile the Executive announced that an airline for pilgrims was opened from New Borq Al Arab, also that the company is sending 18 of its young staff to Japan for the training on modern solutions for International Airports Administration. Projects in Pre-Tendering Phase EGP1 billion new passengers' terminal project, launched at Borgel Arab airport in Alexandria with the assistance of a Japanese soft loan. Media reports quote Head of the Jul 14, 2013 Egyptian Airports Co., Abdel Kerim Nasr, indicating that a loan agreement to support the project will be concluded between Jetro & Egypt's Ministry of International Cooperation. The Official predicted the loan will be for repayment over 40 years including 10 years grace & will bear a 5% annual interest. The project would increase the airport's annual capacity by 4 million passengers. Sep 17, 2013 That was announced by Mr. Essam Abdel Hadi, Chairman of EGOTH indicating that the company is now managing EGOTH OBROY Hotel in Giza until a new management company is hired. Meanwhile the executive revealed that a deal was concluded with Marriott to train tourist & hotel staff. On the other hand, Mr. Abdel Hadi revealed that a tourist project is now promoted in Sukhna on 111 feddans owned by EGOTH & 60 feddans owned by Suez Governorate. N.B. Above took place amid of what we identified as the start of race to win the concession of the Tahrir square land hotel to be re-built on the location of the Ex National Party's burnt building, with its ownership rights still held by the Ministry of Culture. Estimated investment's budget for the new hotel was set at L.E. 400 million (meaning no high rise design is searched). A market survey & assessment report prepared by world reputed Blumberg Web Site on Egypt's real estate sector has identified its strong & promising future potential. Aug 12, 2013 That was reported in the media indicating the development was backed by almost 11.6 % decline in the Egyptian Pound value accompanied with the increase of the inflation rate to reach 9.8 % by the end of June 2013 up from 8.2 % reached a month ago. Report concluded that all the above boosted the demand on real estate to witness, after almost two a half years of tough recession since the early 2011, a unique recovery. Report revealed that real estate developers, both Egyptians and from the Gulf, have had by that date acquired almost 100 million M2 of land to build thereon in Cairo & at surrounding areas.

Projects Awards ARABCO - Arab Contractors, Osman A Osman & Co. was formally declared winner of a $ 320 million contract for the construction of Anugo/ Port Harcourt Road in Sep 01, 2013 Nigeria. That was announced by Eng. Mohsen Salah, (new) Chairman of Arabco, indicating that the award was endorsed by the Federal Executive Council of the Nigerian Government which would soon proceed with relevant award procedures. The executive noted that most contracts executed by Arabco in Africa are located in Guinea & Nigeria. ARABCO was further declared winner of other roads construction projects in Africa worth $ 361 million driving its awards in the continent, in less than a week, to exceed Sep 02, 2013 $ 690 million. That included two projects in Equatorial Guinea valued $ 129.3 million including a roads project & a camps project. They further included two projects in Cameron valued $ 113.6 million including the construction of a new road and the rehabilitation of another existing road and other two projects in Chad valued $ 118 million. The development was highly praised by ARABCO (new) chairman who conveyed his thanks & appreciation to leaders and rulers of those countries. Projects in Pre-Tendering Phase L.E. 1.1 billion additional budget funds were allocated to the Ministry of Transport for the completion of main roads & highways projects of 610 Km total length. That was Sep 15, 2013 announced by Dr. Eng. Ibrahim Al Demeiri, Minister of Transport, indicating the said projects include a 110 Km long corridor linking Toshki with Arkin Port on the west side of the Nile, a 21 Km long section of the regional ring road between 10th Ramadan & Badr City and a 32 Km long double track road between El Mehalla & Kafr El Sheikh among others.
