Current humanitarian needs and responses: Humanitarian Response by government is provided in different district as per necessity which is provided in the table of district-wise latest flood situation.

Further needs and future threat: Shelter support is required for the households which are under water and for people who are living without shelter on higher grounds. WASH support is needed in the most affected districts. This is a slow-onset disaster and the situation in the southwest districts is expected to worsen over the coming months. The flood situation in West Bengal of India is worsening and water is being released from several barrages in India. This is causing water levels in the rivers in southwest Bangladesh to rise and may contribute to increased flooding in Bangladesh if the existing flood water does not subside soon. Around 980 education institutions in Jessore, Satkhira and Khulna are under three to four feet of water. Children may be forced to discontinue their education due to school closure and loss of education material. Long-term closures of schools and educational institutions are bound to have an impact on the local communities especially on children and adolescents. Several government and private establishments including Tala Upazila Parishad and BGB (Boarder Guard Bangladesh) Camp are also submerged. Damage to roads and major highways from water logging has been observed and is expected to deteriorate further. If a depression occurs in the Bay of Bengal this season, more rain will occur and it is expected to further exacerbate the current situation. Conclusion Given that the situation of the flood affected people is already dire and fast deteriorating and that water logging is expected to continue for several months, humanitarian support is needed immediately for the most affected districts in Bangladesh.
