4L60E No Cruise Control and DTC P0741

.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

Cruise control inoperative and possible malfunction indicator on. Dealer will find DTC P0741 stored in the PCM. The reason that the cruise control is inoperative is because the code is set. The cruise should function normally after the DTC is cleared. This condition may be intermittent and the dealer may not be able to duplicate the condition.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Check for any obvious signs of an internal transmission concern that could cause a TCC no-apply or slip in 3rd gear as this DTC only sets in 3rd gear, slip in 4th gear results in DTC P0894. If the condition is intermittent and the transmission seems to be operating correctly, install the latest calibration available in TIS2000 to correct this concern. The fix was downloaded into TIS2000 and available after October 18, 2004.

.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
