Students have a great deal of fun. Even in class Saint Ignatius High School is a place unlike any other. As important as academics are, the school’s spiritual pro- gram is an essential component that sets Saint Ignatius apart from any other school in Northeast Ohio. While respecting all faith traditions, Saint Ignatius is a Catholic high school rooted in Jesuit spirituality. A four-year Theology program, annual spiritual retreats, frequent liturgies, international mission trips, and opportunities for service to those in need are mainstays. A Saint Ignatius education prepares students to become concerned and socially responsible members of their communities. Part of the Saint Ignatius student experience includes the promotion of faith in the service of justice. Formation is the very heart of a Catholic, Jesuit education and is woven throughout everything from academics to the arts to student life and of course, to athletics. Through athletics in gen- eral, and football in particular, formation occurs. What Saint Ignatius athletes do on the field is but one way in which they reach and strive. Their academic growth, their service as Men for Others, and their artistic accomplishments all work together to fulfill the true goal of a Saint Ignatius High School education: To form young men who know themselves in relation to God. 5 2016 FOOTBALL MEDIA GUIDE IN MEMORIAM: DAVID POPLAR ‘87 11 OHSAA STATE TITLES – 1988 1989 1991 1992 1993 1994 1995 1999 2001 2008 2011 In Memoriam David Poplar ‘87, a dedicated statistician for Saint Ignatius football, passed away tragically on April 30, 2016.
