PERSONAL STATEMENT Hi, my name is Sydney Hamilton and since I was a little girl, I’ve always wanted to fly. Literally. I would stand outside with my left foot positioned directly adjacent to my right foot, a blanket tied at my neck, and my arms straight out. Once in the ready position, I would try to take off! My mom would come out after about 30 minutes and encourage me to fly another way. She would suggest a Jet Pack, an airplane or even a rocketship! “No mom, I want to fly!” I replied confused as to what she didn’t understand. Not once did my parents tell me I couldn’t fly. So, it is no surprise that I work for the Boeing Company today. The work I do excites me every day and I’m eager to see what the future of aviation brings. Additive manufacturing aka 3D Printing is changing so many industries. Being on an design team has open my eyes to new technology, innovation in design, and shown me a small breath of of opportunity in aerospace engineering. I have always dreamed of being able to fly… and now, at Boeing, I do. Just differently than I originally, I imagined. Innovation is taking a dream and making it into a reality. Together, we can innovate to make dreams continue to come true.

BIOGRAPHY Rising Technology Star Award Winner, Sydney Hamilton, has been featured on CBS, in Marie Claire Magazine, on GoldieBlox and across The Boeing Company for her innovative contributions to the aerospace industry. She was also selected to be an IF/THEN Ambassador for the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) to inspire youth to pursue STEM fields. As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Boeing in El Segundo, CA, Sydney leads a cross-functional team in the development of Satellite Reflectors. Reflectors are critical mechanisms in global satellite arrays that redirect radio frequencies (like your GPS!) to desired areas. Throughout Sydney’s career, she has had the opportunity to design 3D-printed satellite parts, deliver structural repairs to Boeing’s fleet of 767 and 777 airplanes, and design and analyze for the 777 floor Redesign effort as well as the 777X Folding Wing-Tip. A passionate advocate for recognizing the power within diversity, Sydney founded Boeing Generations 2 Generations employee resource group dedicated to improving workplace culture across the company’s rich, multi-generational talent pool. →
