FAFSA Symposium - Tuesday, September 29, 2020

Please join us for the Student Assistance Commission's 2nd annual Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) Symposium Tuesday, September 29, 9 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.

Governor Pritzker signed legislation that, beginning with the 2020-2021 school year (current year), requires public high school students to complete the FAFSA or a state aid application as a condition of graduation. Making FAFSA completion a part of an expectation for high school graduation can increase the number of students who are aware of the resources available to help them afford education or training after high school.

This year will of course be a virtual event only. While we will miss seeing everyone in person, we hope you will join us online for this free one-day share and learn event on the following topics: Preparing students and families to complete the FAFSA or Alternative Application Supporting high schools' FAFSA or Alternative Application completion efforts Assisting students virtually with their nancial aid applications ISAC resources and support available to school districts and organizations Particularly as Illinois begins its rst year in complying with the state's new FAFSA mandate, this event will provide a great opportunity to strengthen student supports in completing the FAFSA or Alternative Application and to increase overall completion rates for all student populations. Individuals who have helped students complete a FAFSA before, and those who are new to nancial aid, are encouraged to attend. Do not miss an opportunity to highlight FAFSA completion efforts in your school or community and to hear from your peers at this important share and learn event!
