OnCourse December 2014 From the Committee Farewell 2014, Bring on 2015. Earlier this month the Queensland Committee held the annual presentation dinner at Mr Darren Wilson’s home. A Big thankyou to all the Sponsors, supporters and volunteers of Eventing Queensland, their affiliated clubs and their events. These three groups are the unsung hero's of eventing and without them many events would not happen. Rider please remember in 2015 (and beyond) a little appreciation goes a long way. A quick photo of you and your prizes in a short thank-you email to the class sponsors (or even better in person) will go along way to securing that sponsorship for the club in the future. Or even something as simple as being on time, or checking the volunteers have enough water will ensure these valued and vital personnel remain willing to donate their time to our sport. Dom Schramm – USA My wife Jimmie and I operate Schramm Equestrian which normally comprises of around 16 horses. For 9 months of the year we are based in Cochranville, Pennsylvania. It’s a real horse hub in America. We live within 2 miles of other (former) Aussies Phillip Dutton, and Ryan Wood. During the winter months we move the whole operation south to Aiken, South Carolina so we can keep riding and competing.

2014 was a challenging year for me as my 3* horse Cold Harbor sustained an injury in the summer that really threw the rest of the season off track as far as big shows go. Jimmie has a 3* house Bellamy that she is hoping to make her 4* debut on next spring at ROLEX.

We welcomed the support of many new sponsors this year If you think you’ve seen this including Tucci boots, Charles Owen Helmets, Flexible Fit, face recently, maybe it’s Professionals Choice, Safe Guard all wormer, Sarm Hippiue, because you have! Stubben Saddles, Abby Road accounting services, Ride Alert, Malvern Saddlery and Higher Standards Leather Care.

I am facing a bit of a difficult situation for 2015 as I am a little ‘horse poor’ as far as upper level horses go. I am constantly trying to find supporters and owners who are eager to help be build a string of quality horses. I am hoping to get Cold Harbor to Bromont CCI*** in June and if that goes well I may try to take him to England later in the year. In the meantime I have bought a few 4yo OTT’s and will focus on producing them and trying to find the ones that look the goods.

I am hoping to start the 2015 season with around 7 four & 5 year olds to begin working with whilst I still try to build a strong of upper level horses.

I have become very busy teaching clinics and travel all over the US and internationally. 2015 already has around 15 weekend clinics booked in as Jimmie and I are trying to pay off our truck and trailer so we can start saving for a house. I enjoy teaching but also hope that 2015 can be a year that I build a stronger platform of horse power to really get out and about in 2016 and have a real go at making the Aussie team for the next WEG. There is a lot that needs to happen between now and then but I believe I am in the right location for it to become a reality!

I miss Queensland terribly but don’t regret the decision to relocate. Hopefully with hard work it’s a decision that will pay off in the long run!
