    Location of the campus and general information Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP),Auditorium The campus of the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) is in an area of Calcutta (or Kolkata) called Salt Lake. Salt Lake is a satellite township located in the Northeast part of the city of Calcutta (or Kolkata). There are several entry points to Salt Lake City from the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass (which runs roughly north to south along the eastern fringe of Calcutta). The northern-most entry point to SaltLake (or Bidhannagar) is from E.M ByPass. A place in Salt Lake is often recognised by its nearby "Water Tank Number" and/or "Island". Here "Island" means the round-shaped park at every cross-road of Bidhannagar. The entire area is subdivided into different blocks. Entering Bidhannagar from Ultadanga, the main thoroughfare is the 1st Avenue of Salt Lake. Your first "Island" will be "PNB Island" (Punjab National Bank Island). As you go along the 1st Avenue from Ultadanga entry, the Salt Lake "Blocks" on your left are arranged as AA, AB, AC, (on your immediate right the "Blocks" will be BA, BB, BC).
