Miss Gibson donates 0000 to Dandenongs Appeal Fund

A news item of interest was published in the "Herald" on 20/12/62. Readers will recall the agi- tation by beauty-lovers to save a suitable spot in the Dan- denongs as a perpetual re- minder of the unspoiled glory of the Australian bush. An appeal for £6000 to purchase a site received wide publicity and the public response was gratifying and liberal. The article in question highlights a donation of £1000 sent to the Appeal Fund by Miss Maude Gibson, now resident in Switzerland and a direct de- scendant of the original Gib- son who found the famous partnership of Foy and Gib- son.

"Jive" and Miss Knofler

Miss Doris Knofler, of Lad- ies' Shoes, registered a very good performance just prior to the Christmas vacation. She and her partner (Mr. Rob- ert Cortis) won the Victorian "jive" dancing championship and were also successful in the challenge event — Mel- bourne v. Sydney — for the EXCITING NEW VENTURE same type of dancing. This challenge event is regarded as the Australian champion- ship and, as a consequence. Miss Knofler has reason to be FOYS ENTER GIRL IN THE proud of her proficiency.
