P Shining Stars at Southwest Center The Southwest Center has a wonderful group of dedicated and passionate employees. Each newsletter we will pick one to highlight so you may get to know them better. Diane Dulaney-Handi-Craft Ceramics

Whenever you think about ceramics, including kilns, paints and especially molds, the first person that comes to mind is Diane Dulaney.

Diane has been employed with Handi-Craft Ceramics, the full service ceramic shop at the Southwest Center, since the first day it opened in 1985! Diane’s sister, Nada Howell was a founding member of the Southwest Center. Knowing that Diane was a stay at home mother of 3 children and that Diane had a passion for working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Nada used her best recruiting skills and con- vinced Diane to help the Southwest center by typing letters and calling community businesses for donations and support. Diane developed her passion after her niece Beverly Howell who was born with down syndrome. In addition to being fortunate to having Diane, her husband of 40 years, Oren volunteers and helps out in any way that he can. When asked why she works so hard to help Southwest Center, Diane stated it was because she believes in what we do and in the individuals that we work with. Diane and Oren, Thank You for all that you do! You both are shining stars at the Southwest Center!
