McI RELEASE: Tuesday , September 18, 1973 SALVE ELECTS 'J1HREE NEW TRUSTEES The Board of •rrustees of Salve Regina College , Newport, Rhode Island, elected three new members during its first meeting of the 1973-74 acade mic year last night. The new board me mbers are: Felix DeWeldon of Newport, R. I. , and Washinc:_rton , D. C.; Sister Mary Therese Antone, R. S . M. , of Cuniberland, R. I.; and Mr. Willard H. Gage , J r., o f Barring ton, R. I. Mr. DeWeldon is an internationally known sculptor . Among his more famous works are tJ1e World War I monument, Belleau Wood , France ; the U. S. Marine Co:rps Memorial o f the Iwo Jirna Flag Raising , Washington, D. C. ; a bronze of Sgt. Al vin York, Nashville , Tennessee ; a bronze of Presi ~ient Ke nne dy and a gold me da.l o f President Johnson on, dis play in the White House , Wa s hington, D. C . A native of Austria , Mr . DeWeldon became a n aturalized U. S. citizen in 1945. He holds an A. B. from Marchetti College , Vienna, Aus tria, and a M.A. , M. S. and Ph. D. from the University of Vie nna, Acade my of Creative Ar ts , School of Architectu ~e. - more ·- ... Salve/New Trustees - 2 Sister Antone is a staff member of Mercy College in Cumberland, R. I. She is also Provincial Councilor of the Sisters of Mercy and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Bishop Feehan High School Foundation. Formerly the principal of Bishop Feehan High School, Attleboro, Massachusetts, Sister Antone has served on the accrediting team of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the Board of Governors of the Southeastern Massachusetts Conference of High Schools and the Advisory School Board of the Fall River Diocese. Sister Antone is a graduate of Salve Regina College and Villanova University where she received her Master's degree. Mr. Willard H. Gage, Jr., is an assistant vice president of the Rhode Island Hospital Trust National Bank. He is a graduate of the Williams College School of Banking and the Rutgers University Stonier Graduate School of Banking. Past president of the Providence Chapter of the American Institute of Bankers, Mr. Gage is a member of the Greater Provide nce Chamber of Commerce, the Rhode Island His~orical I Society, Special Gifts Chairman of the United Way, a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Business Opportunities, Inc., a member of Robert Morris Associates and a trustee of Alpan, Inc. - 30 - 91773km
