2018 Toronto Aeros Joan Padmore Memorial Scholarship Winners Ross Hough.pdf 1 8/28/18 7:13 PM n behalf of the entire board and staff of the Toronto Aeros Girls Hockey Association, I want to again Clare Padmore, Aero 2006-09 (Photo Top Right): extendO our deepest gratitude to our sponsors and advertisers for their never-ending support of the Ph. D. Candidate Biomedical Engineering, Toronto Aeros hockey program. Having a small organization and limited resources, it would be impossible to sustain an elite program without their support. We encourage everyone to support these Biomechanics UWO ‘19 individuals and businesses highlighted in our 2018-19 Media Guide. M. Eng. Medicine, Mechanical & Materials Engineering UWO ‘15 THANK YOU to all our incredible volunteers from board members to coaches and staff. These folks are B.Sc. Matriculating to study Human Kinetics, THANK YOU to all the Aeros families over the last 7 years who choose to give back through the Aeros University of Guelph, Fall 2018 Endowment Fund established in memory of Joan Padmore. Joan was the epitome of a selfless and inspirational volunteer and Board Member, and was our Treasurer at her untimely death in 2011. Beginning this year, these funds will be dedicated to provide an annual $1000 Joan Padmore Memorial Scholarship for Citizenship. It will be awarded to a worthy graduating player or alumna who demonstrates Joan’s values as a strong role model, toward their continuing university study. We would of course be appreciative of continued donations to the Aeros Endowment Fund towards this cause.

In this inaugural year, two winners of the award have been selected. Lauren Ianni, Junior Aeros graduating 2017-18 Captain, is a three year Aero. She has 70+ hours of community service, including volunteering with Martha’s Table Soup Kitchen, Special Olympics, U16 OWHA Camp and work as a hockey instructor. This year we felt it was highly appropriate to honour a second winner, Clare FRIDAY NOVEMBER 16T H 2018 Padmore. Clare was also a three year Aero (2009 alumna). She continues to give back as Head Coach of two teams in the Withrow Park Ball Hockey Association, and well as working with Leaside’s Mark your calendars! Details to come. Fundamentals Hockey Program. Congratulations to these two exceptional women! www.torontoaeros.com Our Tradition of Excellence on the ice continues. The 2017-18 season finished with the Midget Aeros regular season Division Champions and the Junior Aeros winning Gold in the PWHL. In addition, our Junior team won Gold at the 2018 OWHA Provincials and our Midget squad won a Bronze Medal. We are extremely proud that virtually all Aeros alumnae continue on to play hockey in either the NCAA or CIS, an incredible feat with university demands.

Highlighting the strong calibre of our players, we continue to have great representation with Team Ontario, National U18, U22 and our National Women’s teams. Congratulations to Aeros alumnae Haley Irwin, Jill Saulnier & Laura Stacey, Canadian Olympic team members this year and Danelle Im, selected to the host Korean Olympic team. All of the “Black & Red” were cheering you on from afar!

We all sincerely wish each of our players continued success in hockey and life, both this season and beyond!
