To look after the academic activities of polytechnic education, ‘State Council for Engineering & Technical Education’ was set-up as a Government outfit by an executive order. The Council was a part of the Chief Inspectorate of Technical Education and subsequently of the Directorate of Technical Education. West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development was formed as a Statutory Body under the West Bengal Act XXVI of 2013. West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development (Technical Education Division) has various activities for conducting a number of courses at Diploma, Post Diploma, Certificate, Advanced Certificate, Short Term Vocational Training, Commercial Education level besides monitoring and affiliating the academic institutions conducting these courses and development of curricula for the purpose. The Council also advises Government in respect of Technical Education for the areas mentioned above. Apart from aforesaid activities, the Council also conducts entrance examination and prepares merit lists for admission of students to Diploma Courses in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy etc. in the Polytechnics of the State under its affiliation. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR APPLICANTS a) Citizenship Must be an Indian Citizen. b) Qualification Must have passed the Secondary (Madhyamik) Examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with English, Mathematics and Physical Science / Science / Science & Technology among others as subjects securing at least 35% marks (no rounding up) in aggregate as per AICTE norms excluding the marks of the subject taken as additional/optional. Candidates appearing in the Secondary (Madhyamik) Examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent examination in 2021 with English, Mathematics and Physical Science/Science among others as subjects may also apply. However, conforming to the benchmark of 35% marks (no rounding up as per AICTE norms) in aggregate excluding the marks of the subject taken as additional/optional, is a must, failing which candidature is liable to be cancelled even after selection in JEXPO-2021. c) Age Should not be born after 01.07.2006 and there is no upper age limit. SYLLABUS Latest revised syllabus on Mathematics and Physical Science upto Class-X under West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) shall be followed for JEXPO–2021. Topic-wise syllabus is given below: Mathematics : Real Numbers, Laws of Indices, Graph, Co-ordinate Geometry - Distance Formula, Linear Simultaneous Equations, Properties of Parallelogram, Polynomial, Factorisation, Transversal & Mid-Point Theorem, Profit & Loss, Statistics, Theorems on Area, Construction of a Parallelogram whose measurement of one angle is given and equal in area of a Triangle, Construction of a Triangle equal in area of a quadrilateral, Area & Perimeter of Triangle & Quadrilateral shaped region, Circumference of Circle, Theorems on concurrence, Area of circular region, Co-ordinate Geometry - Internal and External Division of Straight Line Segment, Co-ordinate Geometry - Area of Triangular Region, Logarithm. Quadratic Equations with one variable, Simple Interest, Theorems related to circle, Rectangular Parallelopiped or Cuboid, Ratio and Proportion, Compound Interest and Uniform Rate of Increase or Decrease, Theorems related to Angles in a Circle, Right Circular Cylinder, Quadratic Surd, Theorems related to Cyclic Quadrilateral, Construction of circumcircle and incircle of a triangle, Sphere, Variation, Partnership Business, Theorems related to Tangent to a Circle, Right Circular Cone, Similarity, 1 JEXPO-2021 Construction of tangent to a circle, Real life Problems related to different Solid Objects, Trigonometry - Concept of Measurement of Angle, Construction - Determination of Mean Proportional, Pythagoras Theorem, Trigonometric Ratios and Trigonometric Identities, Trigonometric Ratios of Complementary angle, Application of Trigonometric Ratios - Heights & Distances, Statistics - Mean, Median, Ogive, Mode and Numerical Aptitude. Physical Science : Measurement, Force & Motion, Atomic Structure, Mole Concept, Matter - Structure and Properties, Solution, Acids, Bases & Salts, Work, Power & Energy, Sound, Heat, Separation of Components of Mixtures, Water. Concerns about our Environment, Behaviour of Gases, Light, Periodic Table and Periodicity of the Properties of Elements, Ionic and Covalent Bonding, Chemical Calculations, Thermal Phenomena, Current Electricity, Electricity and Chemical Reactions, Inorganic Chemistry in the Laboratory and in Industry, Metallurgy, Atomic Nucleus, Organic Chemistry and General Awareness. APPLICATION PROCEDURE The Online Application Form will be available in the council’s website www.webscte.co.in from 6th May, 2021 to 30th June, 2021. Fee for Online Application is Rs. 450/- (Rs. 225/- for valid Kanyashree enrolees). Payment of application fee to be made online through Net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card / UPI. Procedure of online submission of application and deposition of application fee shall be notified in the Council’s website www.webscte.co.in. No Offline Application Form for JEXPO 2021 will be available. INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING-UP OF ONLINE APPLICATION FORM Online Application Form will have to be filled-in properly. Under no circumstances, any subsequent request for change in information, furnished by the candidate in the Online Application Form, shall be entertained. Special care on the part of candidates should be taken to prevent such error of omission and commission. Council is not liable for refusal of admission to a candidate by the Institutes from taking final admission even after getting allotment for wrong submission of information by the candidate. If any difference of information furnished by the candidate in the Online Application Form, and that furnished by the candidate at the time of counseling or thereafter is detected, it shall be treated as a case of furnishing false information on the part of the candidate and will result in cancellation of candidature. It is to be noted that detection of anomaly in respect of admission eligibility criteria at any stage (admission or registration or even afterwards) shall automatically cancel the candidature and no claim shall be entertained by the Council. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Appropriate Domicile Certificate (Proforma-A or B or C) has to be submitted at the time of admission in the Polytechnics. Special care should be taken in filling up of name of the candidate, name of his/her father/mother/guardian and Date of Birth. Incorrect entry in this regard may result in problems at the time of counseling / admission. 2 JEXPO-2021 ZONE OF EXAMINATION The examination will be held simultaneously in the following districts/ zones provided there are sufficient candidates in the districts/ zones.     UTKARSH BANGLA, 2016 (A Flagship Scheme For Short Term Skill Development In West Bengal) -PBSSD- Paschim Banga Society for Skill Development 1. AIM: - The Government aims to introduce a Flagship Scheme in the State of West Bengal for the entire non-institutional, non-project mode, short term Skill Development interventions to provide wage/ self employment linked skills training to the residents of the State. Integrating all Skill Development interventions at the State level, this scheme shall be called the “UTKARSH BANGLA 2016”. 2. OBJECTIVE: - The objective of the Scheme is to skill individuals to empower them to engage in wage employment or self-employment leading to improved livelihood through increased earnings, and/or improved working conditions, and/or opportunities to move from informal to formal work sectors.The skills imparted will be compliant with National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF)/ NCVT/ QP - NOS and conform to prevalent National norm and Standards. The training shall be in National Council(s)/ Industry validated and market relevant skills based modules followed by assessment and certification procedures that have an all India acceptance. 3. THE SCHEME : The features of the Scheme are: a. Title: The Scheme shall be referred to as “UTKARSH BANGLA 2016”. Implementing Agency : i. All the interventions funded by the various State Government Departments/ Bodies/ Agencies from State and other funds, leading to Skill Development in the non-project mode, shall be made by the Paschim Banga Society for Skill Development (PBSSD) on their behalf. PBSSD will be supported by a State Project Management Unit (SPMU) ii.
