Take a left at the Whalebone Junction traffic light onto Hwy 12 South into National Seashore. Go over the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge () to National Wildlife Refuge. Continue South on Hwy 12 about 4 more miles. The Pea Island Visitor Center is on the right at Mile Post 31. 45 min. From Buxton: Travel north on Hwy 12 through Avon, Salvo, Waves and Rodanthe. Pea Island Visitor Center is approximately 8 miles north of Rodanthe on the left at Mile Post 31. 50 min. From Columbia: Travel east, staying on Hwy 64 as you cross the Alligator River Bridge, go through Manns Harbor, cross the the Virginia Dare Memorial Bridge, pass through , and then cross the Washington Baum Bridge. Just over a mile after the bridge, turn right on Hwy 12 South into Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Go over the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge (Oregon Inlet) to Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge.
