Rome, 14 November 2017 - Terna is continuing talks with the community involved in the “Volpago Electrical Substation and Redevelopment of the Network between Treviso and Venice” project. Having met with the Mayors of Volpago and Scorzè, in the next few days the Company will hold meetings with the Mayors of , Trevignano, Povegliano and Paese to discuss the plans for the forthcoming works designed to secure a large portion of the grid between the provinces of Treviso and Venice, which include the construction of a new Electrical Substation in .

To ensure that the works are illustrated as clearly as possible, in December Terna also plans to organise a series of open days aimed at local citizens, enabling the company to explain the project and gather observations and opinions from local people, which will then be assessed carefully as part of a forum, open to anyone interested in the planning and construction of the electricity lines required to improve the safety and efficiency of the system.

The project is essential to improve the stability and quality of the local electricity transmission system, adapting it to fulfil the region’s current requirements. The new electrical substation at Volpago will resolve current service limitations and make the 132 kV networks between Soverzene and Scorzè and the 220 kV lines in the areas of Polpet, , Scorzè and Venice North - characterised by high power transfers - more modern, secure and efficient.

The planned works also include an important project designed to rationalise and modernise the existing electricity grid, which will have positive impacts on the landscape and environment of the entire region. To facilitate the connection with the new electrical substation at Volpago, around 25 km of underground cable will be installed, with practically zero environmental impact. The development project includes the demolition of more than 14 km of old power lines, almost all of which are located close to residential areas, and will remove a considerable number of pylons from the municipalities of Trevignano, Volpago del Montello, Povegliano, Ponzano Veneto, Paese, Scorzé and Noale.
