The patient had been free of inflammation and glaucoma since cataract extraction 27 years previously. We also report the results of phenotypic analysis of lymphocytes removed from the anterior chamber. Materials and methods: This descriptive study is a prospective analysis of 78 young female SNHL subjects who were examined at a tertiary care university hospital with a detailed ophthalmic examination, including electroretinography (ERG) and visual field tests as needed. Results: The mean age was 19.00 ± 1.69 years (range: 15 to 24 years). A total of 39 cases (50%) had at least one ocular pathology. Refractive errors were the leading problem, found in 35 patients (44.9%). Anterior segment examination revealed heterochromia iridis or Waardenburg syndrome in 2 cases (2.56%).

The pigment cells slough off from the back of the iris due to its concave confi gura on causing it to rub against the zonules and lens. These pigment cells accumulate in the anterior chamber in such a way that it begins to clog the trabecular meshwork causing eleva on of intraocular pressure. Anterior segment op cal coherence tomography (ASOCT) is a non contact, easy to use, reproducible method for examina on of the anterior segment. It allows detailed evalua on of the cornea, the angle of eye and the iris. It has extensively been used to evaluate angle closure glaucoma. It can also be used in cases of pigmentary glaucoma. We present a male, myopic pa ent with advanced stage of pigmentary glaucoma at a rela vely young age. We used ASOCT to demonstrate the concave iris confi gura on in our pa ent and its disappearance following laser iridotomy. MAY 2015 WORD COUNT: 3 532 003679 – 0025 Abstract The aim of this investigation is to determine the distribution of the colour of eyes in a given population of students of VI Liceum Ogólnokształcące in Kielce (16-19 years old) and to examine how this characteristic is inherited. To achieve this goal, data including iris colour of 100 individuals and their closest relatives were collected. The colour of eyes of each individual was assessed in the same room with the same artificial light turned on. Information about eye colour of individuals' family was gained through investigated people. The stated hypothesis said that there would be the greatest percentage of brown-eyed people, smaller amount of blue-eyed ones and the smallest number of individuals with green iris. It was based on Mendel's idea of inheritance of 2 of 3 known genes responsible for colour of eyes – bey 2 and gey; the third gene, bey 1 could not be used as its way of action is not well-known yet. The results do not completely coincide with hypothesis. The obtained distribution shows that in the chosen population, percentage of people with brown and blue eyes is equal (37%) and number of green-eyed people is significantly smaller (23%). This inconsistency can be a result of the fact that Europe, especially the eastern part, is the region of the world with the greatest variety of colour of both eyes and hair.

MARTIN From the Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology, University of Glasgow WAARDENBURG'S syndrome, or more fully the van der Hoeve-Halbertsma-Waarden- burg-Klein syndrome, is a combination of ocular and associated anomalies which are always genetically determined and usually show a dominant transmission. The individual features of the syndrome are not of themselves uncommon and the most characteristic of these, outward displacement of the inner canthi, has been described frequently (van der Hoeve, 1916, 1929; Waardenburg, 1930), but Waardenburg was the first to correlate this with dermal, auditory, and iris anomalies. The complete syndrome is rare and the purpose of this communication is to record a family showing all its stigmata in three generations, and to point to a plastic operation to correct the most commonly described feature. The syndrome, as it was described by Waardenburg (1951), consists essentially of copyright. five components. (1) Dystopia Canthi.-Telecanthus, a term proposed by Mustarde (1963), describes an increase in the distance between the medial canthi beyond the normal range. This, com- bined with lateral displacement of the lacrimal puncta, bringing them to lie in the corneae, yet without any increase in the inter-pupillary (IP) or inter-lateral canthal (ILC) distances, is the most common feature of the syndrome.
