ABOUT THIS STATION Located in Phoenix's Central Business District, Central Station is the region's primary bus transit facility and will also serve as a major transfer point between bus and light rail. Nearly all express bus routes pass through Central Station, facilitating access to downtown Phoenix from most parts of the Valley. The downtown Phoenix/Copper Square area includes the Valley's largest concentration of employment, cultural and arts facilities, sports venues and public offices.

Many properties near Central Station are being re-devel- oped. The Lofts on Fillmore has been renovated and sold recently. The historic San Carlos Hotel is also slated for a complete renovation. The downtown YMCA across from the light rail station is being re-developed with the addition of owner-occupied residential. Other properties that will be served by this station include: the Bank One building, Center, a multi-use office, retail, entertainment, and hotel complex, and Arizona State University's down- town campus that will house 15,000 students by 2012.
