Rain or shine, Kerry promises a fun-filled time for all the family. We have plenty of all-weather options for young and old. A number of leisure centres and hotels offer swimming facilities, gyms and fitness classes. On rainy days, cinemas and indoor play areas can keep the little ones entertained, while the grown-ups can rejuvenate with a spa treatment or indulge their culinary passion with a food experience or release their inner artist during an art class. During school holiday periods, Kerry hosts several camps, most of which can be booked for individual days or a full week/s. All the main towns in Kerry host weekly Farmers’ Markets and there are several Cookery Schools that offer a range of courses from bread-making to local and international cuisine. Some like the Dingle Cookery School offer a ‘Catch and Cook’ experience where participants fish with the locals and cook and eat their catch of the day.

Our artisan producers and wealth of culinary talent ensures a wonderful food experience. The county plays host to several food festivals at various times of the year including the world-renowned Dingle Food Festival, Flavour of Killorglin, the Listowel and Tralee Food Fairs, Killarney Beer Festival, Valentia Island Scallop Festival, Oyster Festival and Féile na Práta in Ballyferriter. Small rural villages such as Allihies and offer respite along the route which consists of quiet tarmac and bog roads, cliff and woodland paths and open moorland. A loop on the route circumnavigates Bere Island and walkers can experience the thrill of journeying to Dursey Island via Ireland’s only operational cable car. The Kerry Way, at 214km, is the longest of the Irish Waymarked Trails. It is a circular route that circumnavigates the Iveragh peninsula, starting and finishing in Killarney and passing through towns such as Glenbeigh, Caherciveen, Waterville, Sneem and Kenmare. Trail Overview: Kerry Way

Aggregate ascent over the whole route is about 5400m and there are some sustained and quite steep climbs. The highest point on the Way is 385m above sea-level at Windy Gap between Glenmore and Caherdaniel.

There are some long stretches between overnight accommodation possibilities, so walkers should plan their days carefully to take these into consideration. There are good public transport options available. Kerry Way Map Trail Overview: Dingle Way
