~ Profiles ~

Chris Braden (Bret’s Dad) is honored to join this wonderful cast and crew. Chris has been in many Patio shows, including The 1940's Radio Hour (Neal), Waiting for Godot (Estragon), and Greetings! (Andy Gorski). Chris holds a degree in the dramatic arts and wishes to pursue more in the dramatic arts. Chris thanks his family and friends for helping him on this path. Thank you for your support of the arts and enjoy the show! Annie Buchheit (Ginny) most recently portrayed Golde in Fiddler on the Roof (John Paul the Great Catholic University) and Harold Ickes in Annie (Patio Playhouse). A recent graduate from JPCU in their acting and screenwriting programs, Annie is thrilled and grateful to bring to life a brand-new character, an incredible learning experience on all fronts. She sends her thanks and love to her friends and family, especially those who continue to support her in her crazy dreams. Calandra Cane (Jane) has a BA in Theatre from UCSD. Favorite local roles include Harper in Angels in America (Palomar College), Chick in Crimes of the Heart (SRT), and Phoebe in As You Like It (New Village Arts). Special thanks to her family and the Capitol Debate crew for their support!

Alex Contreras (Tech/Sam) is excited to be 'Sam' and 'Tech.' Favorite Credits: The Lover (The Who's Tommy), Thomas (Making God Laugh), Bert Healy (Annie), Ernst (Spring Awakening), Mr. Mayor (Seussical!) and Brian (The Breakfast Club). Alex also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre from CSU San Marcos.

Katie Ezell (Pam) is delighted to be back at Patio Playhouse and performing A Boy and a Girl again! Katie is no stranger to the show, having performed in the staged reading 2 years ago. You may have seen her around San Diego, performing some of her favorite roles, such as Tracy (Hairspray), Cat in the Hat (Seussical), Ursula (The Little Mermaid), Smitty (How to Succeed in Business), and Madame Thenardier (Les Misérables). A big thank you to Patrick for letting her in to the show, and her husband and baby for their support! Ben Garon (Jake) is honored to be cast in his first Patio Playhouse production as Jake! Acting since he was 7 years old, favorite roles have included Lumiere (Beauty and the Beast, CAMS) King Julien (Madagascar Jr, MYT), and Wilbur Turnblad (Hairspray, Star Theater). Ben would like to thank his new friends in the cast for being so awesome and Greg Evans and Amanda Frawley for this opportunity! Enjoy the show! Juli Garon (Quibbletone) has had lots of fun being a Quibbletone in this production! Her extensive theater experience is as follows: Eliza Doolittle (5th grade school play) and ensemble (Les Misérables, Star Rep). Thank you, Amanda, for encouraging me to audition, to the cast and crew who were so welcoming and big thanks to my son Ben who gave me endless encouragement and confidence to give this a try! Dylan Lally (Quibbletone) is a sophomore at ECHS and is thrilled to be a Quibbletone in this original and funny play by Greg Evans. He is excited to join old friends and make new ones at Patio Playhouse. Thankful for this opportunity and the faith of the production team, he hopes you will enjoy this wonderful show!

Kevin Phan (Bret) is excited to be in his third show with Patio Playhouse. His previous roles with Patio include J. Pierrepont Finch (How To Succeed in Business) and Johnny (American Idiot). Other credits include Jack (Into the Woods), Enjolras (Les Misérables), and Moritz (Spring Awakening). Kevin has been working with many San Diego theaters in the last five years. He continues his path of performing thanks to his supportive friends and family. James Schlarmann (Enemy Dad) is a writer/comedian/ musician/amateur burrito photographer and syndicated satirist whose work is found on various platforms, including The Huffington Post. This is the first production James has had the privilege to act in for some time, and he's pretty sure he'll remember how it works by closing night. Thanks to Carolyn and the boys for all your love and sacrifice. Jeffrey Shev (Grandpa) is making his first outing at Patio and is thrilled to be in this premiere production with this talented cast. Jeff is a born and bred New Yorker and a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts NYC, as he says, many moons ago. Jeff has been a resident of San Diego since 2014, but only in 2017 came to realize what an incredible wealth of theatre there is here. His foray back on the boards includes Arsenic and Old Lace and Curious Savage (San Marcos Players), A Bench in the Sun (PowPac, Aubrey Award nomination, Best Lead Actor), and Guys and Dolls and Annie (Star Theatre Oceanside). Thank you to Amanda for this opportunity. Holly Shockley (Enemy Mom/Jane’s Mom) is tickled pink to be joining Patio Playhouse for the first time. A lover of characters with sass, some of Holly’s favorite past roles include the voice of Audrey 2 in Little Shop of Horrors, the Sour Kangaroo in Seussical, Widow Corney in Oliver, and Annas in Jesus Christ Superstar. It has been a delight to be a part of these wildly wacky and talented casts. Thank you Amanda and Patrick for the opportunity. Jackson Taitano (Spunky Bliss) has always been extremely passionate about the arts and has focused on developing his craft as early as he can remember. In recent years he has played more comedic roles in musicals such as Cosmo Brown (Singin’ in the Rain) Pugsley (The Addams Family), and Donkey (SHREK the Musical), which continues to be one of his favorite roles. Nothing makes him feel happier than to see someone’s face light up because he did something funny on stage. He has found a similar feeling when dancing, as there are not as many high school male dancers. He loves to entertain people and make them smile at the end of a performance. Eleanor Throckmorton (Catty) is making her Patio Playhouse debut. Previous credits include: Mary Poppins Jr. (Miss Smythe), The Lion King Jr. (Rafiki), and Seussical Jr. (Bird Girl). She can next be seen as The Cat in The Hat in Seussical Jr. She’s glad to be able to fight with her brother and not be told to “Stop fighting”.

Oliver Throckmorton (Clash) is the best of the Throckmortons you’ll see in this show. He’s tolerated their subpar performances and direction for years as he’s trudged through Mary Poppins Jr. (The Constable), The Lion King Jr. (Ed), and Seussical Jr. (Wickersham brother). You can next enjoy his performance as Mr. Mayor in Seussical Jr. Ellie’s a foot fungus. Amy Throckmorton (Mom/Bret’s Mom) is making her second appearance at Patio Playhouse. Audiences will remember her from last summer’s The Great American Trailer Park Musical (Jeannie). Other area credits include Pump Boys & Dinettes (Prudie & Rhetta) with Moonlight Theatre, Pacco Arts, Lamb’s Players Theatre, and Irvine Civic Light Opera. Directorial credits include: Mary Poppins Jr., Seussical Jr., The Lion… (cont.) Brandon Throckmorton (Dad/Jane’s Dad) (cont.) …King Jr., ‘Twas One Crazy Night Before Christmas, and Tweet: The Musical with Luminary Arts. Having performed with Tokyo Disney Resorts and Holland America, Amy is excited to share these shows with her family. Brandon just finished Every Christmas Story Ever Told…(and then some) at Patio Playhouse.

Deborah Zimmer (Grandma) is thrilled to be introducing another original role in a new musical. Last season she was proud to bring Queen Elizabeth to life in Princess Diana, the Musical, for which she received a Patio award. Some of her favorite roles include: Madame Arcati (Blithe Spirit), Mrs. Van Daan (Diary of Anne Frank), and Mrs. Pearce (Pygmalion). When she isn't directing or designing lights, you can catch her doing improv at Patio with her adult and youth Off the Cuff casts, or at the Broadway Theater in Vista with Funny Things Improv. Hugs and kisses to my supportive husband Rick and long-suffering son Mark. Amanda Frawley (Director) is excited to see Quibbling Siblings on its feet. Greg Evans wrote a fun family show, and Amanda is thankful for Greg’s trust in her to take it from that staged reading years ago to the stage. It has been a few years since Amanda has directed. She has taken the past couple years to be on stage. Recently she appeared as Pippi in Luminary Arts’ production of The Great American Trailer Park Musical. Other credits include Ariel in Footloose, Fantine in Les Misérables, Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, and Sister Mary Amnesia in Nunsense. "Thank you to Greg for trusting in me. I’m excited to see this thing on its feet! Hannah, thank you for taking this time to get back into the game. You have been awesome and I am grateful for your hard work. Erika, thank you for taking new material and running with it. Patrick, thanks for taking on A Boy and A Girl! You are a rock star! To the cast, you got this! Have fun! Play! Thank you for taking on a new project and going for it! Thank you to the production team and crew for your patience and love. Thank you to my family and friends for all your support. I love you! Enjoy the show.” Patrick O’Connor (Director) is excited to be directing A Boy and a Girl at Patio Playhouse. While this is Patrick’s debut as a director, he has been an assistant director for great productions across the county, including Wicked Wizards (Turning Tydes Theater Company) and the award-winning The Third Wave (Patio Playhouse). Patrick is thrilled to be working with such a great cast and crew. Patrick has been acting in the San Diego community for many years. Some of his favorite roles have been: Uncle Fester in The Addams Family (Star Theater Co.), The Narrator/Mysterious Man in Into the Woods (Patio Playhouse), Jacob, Potiphar, and the Baker in Joseph (Act One), and Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast (Patio Playhouse). He would like to thank Amanda Frawley for her support and for joining him on this journey and Patio Playhouse for being a source of creativity in North County.

Erika Gamez (Musical Director) is a Fresno native currently in her first year pursuing a Masters of Music in Wind Conducting from San Diego State University. She is the former Associate Music Director for Blossom Trail Players (Sanger, CA). Prominent past shows as keyboard/synth: Assassins, Cabaret, The Who’s Tommy, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, and Guys and Dolls. She recently appeared as “Cindy” in Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some)!
