TUESDAY, 15 DECEMBER 2020 DEIRDRE TO VISIT GALILEO IN 2021 TARA STUD'S A new direction in the extraordinary odyssey of the Japanese HOMECOMING KING mare Deirdre (Jpn) (Harbinger {GB}BReizend {Jpn, by Special Week {Jpn}) began on Monday when the 6-year-old left her adopted home of Newmarket to begin her stud career in Ireland. Her first mating is planned to be with Coolmore's champion sire Galileo (Ire). Bred by Northern Farm and raced by Toji Morita, Deirdre's first three seasons of racing were restricted largely to Japan, where she won five races, including the G1 Shuka Sho. She also took third in the G1 Dubai Turf on her first start outside her native country. Following her return visit to the Dubai World Cup meeting in 2019, Deirdre travelled on to Hong Kong and then to Newmarket, which has subsequently remained her base for an ambitious international campaign. Golden Horn, Gleneagles Slated to Finally Meet in Irish Champion The much anticipated matchup between star European miler GLENEAGLES (IRE) and fellow standout GOLDEN HORN (GB) appears set to finally take place Saturday in Leopardstown’s $1.33 million “Win and You’re In” QIPCO Irish Champion (GI), with an eight-horse field in place, and a berth in the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf going to the winner. The Irish Champion is one of three Challenge races at Leopardstown and highlights a weekend that features 10 total “Win and You’re In” races, including the prestigious Ricoh Woodbine Mile (GI) Sunday. A rainy forecast for Friday has caused Leopardstown officials to move the Irish Champion to the outside course, and to start Saturday’s race about one hour earlier in the program. The connections of both Coolmore’s Gleneagles and Anthony Oppenheimer’s Golden Horn, the pair of 3-year-old standouts are expected to meet in the 1 ¼-mile race after the latter withdrew from a potential clash in the “Win and You’re In” Juddmonte International (GI) at York August 19 due to the soft turf.

SUNDAY, 5 JULY 2020 LOVE ROMPS IN THE OAKS SERPENTINE SUBLIME IN Already an emphatic winner of the G1 1000 Guineas, THE DERBY Coolmore=s Love (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) entered elite territory on Saturday with a nine-length romp in the G1 Investec Oaks at Epsom. While not quite in the arena of the 12-length 1983 heroine Sun Princess (GB), this winning margin equalled that of the 1996 heroine Lady Carla (GB) (Caerleon) and there have been only four fillies in this race=s history to have won by further. Settled behind a duo among the main six-strong group racing adrift of the runaway pacemakers Tiempo Vuela (GB) (Lope de Vega {Ire}) and Passion (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) early, the chestnut moved forward to swamp stablemate Ennistymon (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) approaching two out. • Dubawi Demand Soars at Book 1 Opener
WEDNESDAY, 9 OCTOBER 2019 DUBAWI DEMAND SOARS SMULLEN: BOUDOT HAS THE KEY TO LONGCHAMP By Pat Smullen AT BOOK 1 OPENER It was great to be at the new ParisLongchamp for the first time. I really enjoyed my weekend and the racing was absolutely tremendous but it was a huge shame about the weather. So much rain fell in such a short space of time and it was well documented beforehand the John Gosden was concerned after walking the track. It was probably the undoing of Enable (GB) but I think Waldgeist (GB) deserved his big day, especially for a horse who has been tremendously consistent through his whole career and expertly trained by Andre Fabre. For me, the most impressive element of the weekend was Pierre-Charles Boudot and how he rides Longchamp. His wins came from everywhere. He was used by a lot of different trainers, including Aidan O'Brien and William Haggas, as well as Andre Fabre of course.
