Apostrophe Revision Challenge: to Recap on Your Previous Knowledge Apostrophe revision Challenge: to recap on your previous knowledge of apostrophes. (‘) Darth Vader hates it when you do not use apostrophes. Come to the dark side and use apostrophes correctly. “You underestimate the power of the apostrophe.” Use the force that you have acquired in previous lessons and tell me what you need apostrophes for: 1) 2) Possession The gun belongs to the clone trooper. It is the _____________________. These guns belong to the clone troopers. These are_____________________. Omission I do not like the clone trooper. I _________ like the clone trooper. “The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the apostrophe.” Re-write the following sentences using apostrophes for omission and possession. 1) Darth Vader is Lukes father. 2) Darth Vader can not take off his mask as he needs it to live. 3) Luke did not know that Darth Vader was his father. 4) If you have not seen any of the Star Wars films then I will be rather shocked. 5) Darth Vaders lightsaber is red. 6) The Jedi will not defeat me. They are too weak. 7) The Death Star is the Galactic Empires ultimate weapon. Put the apostrophes for omission and possession in this script from Star Wars. There are 5 apostrophes for omission and 1 possessive apostrophe. Darth Vader: Luke... help me take this mask off. Luke: But you will die. Darth Vader: Nothing... can stop that now. Just for once... let me... look on you with my *own* eyes. [Luke takes off Darth Vaders mask one piece at a time.] Anakin: Now... go, my son. Leave me. Luke: No. You are coming with me. I will not leave you here, I have got to save you. Anakin: You already... have, Luke. You were right. You were right about me. [Anakin slumps down in death] Luke: Father... I will not leave you. Now you have used apostrophes, Perform! perform this scene with your partner. Be really dramatic when you approach a word that you have changed using an apostrophe. Extra Task: Write a paragraph about your favourite film or a film you have recently watched using apostrophes for omission and possession. Try and use some of the following words BUT using omission: It is you have did not I am I have you will they are you are e.g. My favourite film is Ironman. It’s absolutely amazing; you’ll love it! I’ve watched it so many times but I’ll probably watch it again on the weekend. Tony Stark’s iron suits help him to save the whole world. One day I’m going to be as cool as Ironman! What do you feel most confident with? Omission or possession: _________________________ Why? ____________________________ ____________________________ ____________________________ ____________________________ ____________________________.

  • Star Wars: Boba Fett 2
Star Wars Boba Fett Book 2 Crossfire by Terry Bisson CHAPTER ONE "Hello!" Silence. "Hello!?" No answer. The hallway outside his door was quiet; Boba Fett was all alone. That was okay. Boba was used to being alone. Ever since he had buried his father, he had been by himself - - a ten- year-old against the galaxy. He missed his father but he didn't mind being alone. Sometimes. Sort of. whrr.. Movement! Boba ran to a bend in the:corridor. "Hey! Hey!" .. whrrr... It was just a droid. A small, shoe-sized house droid, the custodial kind that dusted and cleaned continually. While other creatures bustled in other corridors of the Count's underground lair, only the custodial droids came into this hallway. That explained why Boba felt so isolated. But it didn't explain why he had been brought here, and what was going to happen to him. Only the Count could do that. The Count, a tall, thin, powerful man with a cold smile, was known as Tyranus - or Dooku, depending on whom you were talking to. Boba's father, Jango Fett, had left instructions that Boba was to find the Count if something happened to him. Something had happened to Boba's father. He had been killed in a battle with a Jedi. Boba had buried his father on the planet Geonosis. He had gone to his home planet of Kamino only to find that it wasn't home anymore. With his father gone, there was no security. With his father gone, there was no safety.

UCCS | Undergraduate Research Journal | 10.2 Arguing Progressivism in a Movie Theater Far Far Away By Michael Wheeler Abstract The purpose of this paper is to analyze feminism as it pertains to the Star Wars film series. After examining the opinions of other authors and analyzing scenes from the film, can the female characters be considered progressive as it pertains to feminism? Various authors of other scholarly articles as well as novels, which contain collections of scholarly articles, were used to add ethos to the argument. Biographies and scenes from the Star Wars films themselves were analyzed to gather information on specific female characters from the film and to analyze their actions and personas. Per these sources, there is high praise for the female characters in Star Wars. Characters, both in the foreground and the background of the films, have different stories and attributes that make them strong as characters. These strengths and the characters’ abilities to react to new challenges result in them being deemed progressive by modern society. It will be a pleasure seeing how the series continues to move forward and how it will continue to experiment with the characters and what challenges the characters will face. Introduction Due to the prominence of the male Jedi within the Star Wars film series such as Obi-wan, Yoda, Luke, and Mace Windu, it might seem like the female Jedi are non-existent or rare. However, there were a fair number of female Jedi represented within the Star Wars film series. There were Depa Billada, Aayla Secura, Shaak Ti, Adi Gallia, Luminara Unduli, and many more (Sansweet, 2008; Hidalgo and Beecroft, 2016; et al).

  • From Sidious to Nixon: the Parallels Between Star Wars and Vietnam
From Sidious to Nixon: The Parallels Between Star Wars and Vietnam A Senior Project presented to the Faculty of the History Department California Polytechnic State University – San Luis Obispo In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Liberal Arts By Brennan Simpson March, 2021 © 2021 Brennan Simpson 1 In the case of a film franchise that features twelve movies, five television series, and various other forms of media by the time this paper was written, many people may be surprised to hear that Star Wars was actually inspired by one of the most questionable moments in American history. However, the time period in which Star Wars creator George Lucas first wrote what became this world’s ‘‘first step into a larger world’’ actually greatly reflected what ended up on the big screen. Even though the Star Wars movies take place ‘‘a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….,’’ it has been publicly stated in interviews that Lucas based both Star Wars media on the Vietnam War and their main villain, Darth Sidious, on former U.S. President Richard Nixon. Though there have been a few scholarly works since the first Star Wars movie was released in theaters in 1977 that have attempted to explore these parallels, none of them has directly explored how Lucas’s long-standing views on the Vietnam War affected certain key moments of the first six Star Wars movies. This thesis explores George Lucas’ antiwar activism before creating Star Wars to demonstrate how remarkably similar the films and related media of this franchise truly are to both various aspects of the Vietnam War and Richard Nixon’s rise to power.
